a have big clumbsy trypod, which is handy for setting up on. a made a couple of spike`s at work, light and very handy. not much help m8.
av got a spare 1 that a welded up at work, (aluminium), your welcome to it m8, if your ever up this end of the world.
spot on bud, al hold you to it, if i ever get up that way! haha, the solid ones do look better than the folding ones like
NO TINMAN , dont do it , buying an aluminium sandspike is nee good for 'our' beach . i have one and has been a dissapointment so far. me and beachboy are thinking of getting one made from heavier material . u can borrow mine if u want.
it`s there 4 you m8, 1 metre long, bottom cup, top clip and dig-in foot.
ya not missin much m8, but it sounds ok to me. me and me m8 were just talking about going and buying a load of gear of dustybin, and fishing somewhere down there, is that anywhere near you. ?

Been using my aluminium sand spikes for over 25 years on beaches at Horden, blast,Seaham hall,Lynemouth and the holderness beaches and they are still going strong.
I made these spikes from aluminium scafold polls cut out and one piece jobs they are very strong lightweight and easy to fit between my tackle box and the back rest so don't even need a holdall to carry them.
I then use a small telescopic poll with two upturned hooks that fits into my box and hang my traces on that.
But I do agree the shop bought ones are rubbish.
cheers lads
my rod stand has seen better days, bout time i got a new one, i mainly fish beaches and was wondering if anyone uses a sand spike? pro's and cons?!
Yes tinmam m8 used them some years ago before the tripods came out and i found them ideal for sandy beach areas okay m8![]()
