Me and my partner booked up for a short evening trip out on sapphire . I have been out many times from weymouth but this was to be lynns first trip out . The weather looked good ,so after a day of pacing the house we set off full of expectation.
Got to the boat and greeted by the skipper Peter and crewman mick . Once all arrived we headed out south to the rough ground . Mick showed Lynn how to use the reel ,and we where off fishing .
We drifted over the ground a few times with nothing showing so skipper moved, and that is pretty much the story for the next few hours .In all only 4 or 5 fish came over the side, nothing of a good size and certainly nothing to me or lynn.
In all we enjoyed our first trip out together and will be trying again soon on the Sapphire

Shame about the lack of fish m8, the evening trips are a great introduction to boat fishing, glad your partner enjoyed it.

Time flies on the short trips though. If you arent catching then the time to the next wreck always seems too long. If you are catching then the time goes double speed :D

Nearly booked the last spot on your boat as I am desperate to get out at least once this year, hopefully when I do it will be a good day :)

Can't believe you didn't catch. My mate Stevie was on there and he's a top angler ! Big lad about 27. He only had 1 fish and if he can't catch nobody will. He's a legend !

yes fished next to him , he only had one or two and a small ling that dropped off . Good lad though nice to meet him

for some reason the ground has gone very quiet

Since them big seas we had a couple weeks back the ground has been quite IMO and the wrecks much improved but still hit and miss.

The H.F at the Royal Quays comp open to all private boat owners is only 12lb, every year that i have know since i had my boat there its been around the 18-25lb mark by July so shows the change.

We past the Saphire last weekend on our way out to a old fav wreck that produced for us but we had also tried the ground close in and never had a bite.

Lol. Canny couple they were. Just wished everytime they caught the kelp, they caught a fish ! Always next time. Nice to meet you James. Might see you again sometime.
