Peter is doing now what boat anglers should be doing in the winter, a change of mind set is called for, big baits fished hard on the bottom, look at the fish caught this winter off the shore, so they have got to be there and those big smelly baits will certainly attract them. Just spoke to the lad he was using light tackle which made the fishing all the better
Alan i have being doing this sort of fishing for over 20 years now there is fantastic sport to be had fishing at ankhor during the winter months its great to see other boats doing and getting some excellent results it i think it will catch on more and more.

Can any one tell me has there been any other cod to 28lb been taken while uptiding in the north east over the past few years just out of interest, Thank you.
That's an amazing fish, well done! Just one query though, how rough a bottom do you need for uptiding around here? Would you pick it rough as a badgers behind say of the can at St Mary's or a bit cleaner off Souter/a little further South? I am home in two weeks so will be giving it a go! Probably try a couple of wrecks first just to check then drop the pick, just to make sure there arent any fish on the wrecks yet!
