27/5/12 sapphire was back out yet again 8 anglers turn up I WISH WHEN YOU BOOK FOR THE NUMBER YOU SAY ARE COME"N AND THEY DROP OUT YOU FONE ME AND LET ME KNOW HAS OTHERS WANT TO COME I TURN DOWN AT LEAST 5 LADS ON SATURDAY NITE WANT"N TO GO FISHING SUNDAY ? you book the number you say are come"n and you PAY for that number, Fishing was a bit slow sunday still some good cod and pollock, ling new anglers on the boat who not boat fished before shows in the catch, but overrall good day bout 30 fish and a lot going back, cod to 8lb fell to a young lad of 15, ling to 8lb, nice pollock 8lb,

I think the charter game will always be the same lads booking for 10, 8 turn up ,simple really, make them pay for ten and get money back from there mates :o:o
 
Also have a few guys telephone numbers, who are happy to come last minute in the morning.

Well spoken Peter m8 and i do agree with you as other anglers would like the chance of getting out there and doing there stuff too but most of all well done to the lads that got out there and produced some nice size fish and i will be booking up with you Peter as soon as Billfish4853 returns from his holidays okay m8.:cool::cool::cool::cool:
 
good catch again, and a think your spot on about numbers dropping out, your fuel bill`s are the same no matter how many people are on the boat.
av had to drop out of a trip on the 13th, but al stil pay me spot. !
 
Yeah but you cannot blame the other members of the party if one or two dont turn up ,Its happened to me several times ,people say yes we are defiantly going so you make the booking in good faith ,then they dont even bother ringing you or the skipper to tell him.
and your left to explain the following day ,i agree its not good, as the fuel bill is the same .
But these people just dont get invited back out ,no matter what their excuse was,I have been going out for approx 14 years with various skippers and have never let anybody down.

When i fisrt started going out on charted boats you book for two i ended up going out myself i still had to pay for two thats the way its allways been, In them days 25 years ago £30pp i had to pay £60, Thats why i would"nd book again for others unless i got paid up front, A good days wrecking cost"s me around £90 with 5 or 10 on board so when people drop out with out letting me know it still costs me the same and i lose out, some people tend to think the less on the boat better chance of them catching more fish and i lose the boat holds 10 anglers you still catch the same fish even if there is only 5 on board, BOOK A PARTY and 1 or two drop out let me know ASAP or PAY for the ones that drop out,

I agree with some of that Peter ,but why should people be expected to pay for people who don't turn up,in other words if you can accommodate 10 anglers and only 7 turn up then the rest pay for the other 3. so why don't you advertise it as that.Or inform people when they book that if they don't turn up or only some of their party turn up then the rest have to pay , you would get 10 separate anglers all booking up individually
People wouldn't take the chance.i agree its not right as it still costs you the same in fuel
 
just read your post again you paid £30pp 25 years ago that has to be a mistake surely?? when i started to go out 14 years ago it was £15 for a 7am until 5pm trip and has steadily risen over the years which you do expect. i am more than happy to pay the prices that boats are quoting .as i enjoy my fishing
 
the number of times I here this happening is amazing, have mentioned it in papers but some just don't care, they don't realise that this is how skippers earn their living, the costs are incredible and increasing the loss of a couple of anglers can mean a loss for the day. I know skippers don't do it but I am all for a down payment from each angler to cover costs if they don't turn up, many other businesses do this. Also if you book the whole baot and a couple don't turn up you still pay for whole boat, then it is up to the party organiser to get onto his mates for the money.
 
I agree, Peter does require a deposit ,before your penciled in for the date you require .which is great and i don't mind paying the full amount before the trip . but all your going to get is 10 people making individual bookings.
If the boat is advertised for 10 anglers and 11 turn up would the anglers get a reduction ?

no...because boat is only insured for 10................
 
well yes you would think that would be the case ,but last time out a boat advertising for 10 anglers ,actually had 11.It was cramped .yet nobody moaned we just got on with it .So once again should the 10 not get a reduction in price ?

Well you see like my boat am insured for 10 + 2, 10 anglers 2 crew but i work the boat on my own so there is a place for one more angler, prob"lly like many other boats,

If its space your after book THE FAMOUS,10 anglers pay for full boat and bring a football, and tennis rackets , there's loads of room even when 12 on you have about 2 metres between each angler also if a boat is licenced for 10 with 2 crew,then that means 10 anglers and if the skipper puts 11 on then its not legal unless the 11th is crew member

I would agree with you there but what bout if crewmen decides to fish which i have seen happ"nd a lot over the years,
 
What a lot of lads do not unstand as alan said this is your living if you book a seat on a plane and dont turn up it doesnt matter because you have allready paid some skippers are now useing payment by card and this will stop the time wasters unfortunatly at times its the lad who has booked the trip who gets let down by his mates who gets it in the kneck but think about how would anybody like it if they turned up for work and gaffer said you are working a full day for half pay your wouldnt like it the card idea is the way to go.

Was out by myself on a boat last year when a lad turned up with one short in his party.Was a bit miffed when i was charged an extra 4 quid because of this.If it was me i would have paid his money and got it from him later.

Yes i will agree what i read on here from all, And i am going to start again with deposit"s 7 days from maken booking you will for deposit or your place will go to somebody else,
