Sea Angler mag under attack again

...Why aren't they discouraging people from sending in the photographs of someone in their back garden with a picture of a mullet or Ray that they have no intention of eating...

Biggest bug bare I have...holding aloft specimen fish that are going straight in the bin :(

yeah i got sick S A as well, I got tired of reading about how good the fishing was and then going and blanking, i even went as far a contacting the mag and explaining that beginer anglers like myself got disheartend (is that spelt right lol) when reading so of there articals and would like to read more artical about how beginer anglers (like myself) who didnt always catch but were out there seeing what worked and what didnt, and put forward that i would be more than willing to write the artical if they like to publish it. They replied saying they already had wheels in motion to do a very similar set of articals.
Then they had a nice little artical about the walkway in shields and told the nation that the closest bait shop was in Sunderland!!!!! now to be fair i haven't paced it out like but i reckon there wrong there like lol, and now were having the best cod fishing in 50 years!!! just glad i spend my money on the Beano instead,

I gave up on Sea Angler a couple of years ago when I realised that the monthly prospects page is just reprint of the previous years page. The only thing Sea Angler was any good for was the monthly competitions. I won a Penn rod and reel and 2 months later I won a load of line. The rod and reel I sold on ebay and the line went on my abu 6500.

only buy it when i am bored and want something to read no, seen these hot spot reports before, yo go down there the day after and the beach is chuck full of tilley lamps and a lot of unhappy anglers, nowt beats local knowledge ;)

I buy and read both of the main sea angling magazines, and would like to come to the defence of the SA and its staff. Few mths ago, I, along with a few others from the area, (Mick Dunn, Zippy, Fozzy,Peter Morgan) travelled to the South Coast of Kent to take part in a National Sea Comp over two days. I contacted both magazines for assistance in bait, tactics etc etc, due to the conditions, which would be fairly new to me. Both Mags recontacted me and offered sound advice, as obviously they had tried the area, and they had staff from the area.
Well I would like to say that Matchman (Paul) from the SA was in constant touch and gave good sound advice, replying to my emails within minutes of sending.
In all, the advice offered must have been good from Paul, as I won the Individual Prize with over 180 anglers taking place.
I dont think any Mag would offer false information in relation to catches etc, as I dont think anything could be gained from this.
Thanks Paul and to the staff of SA. Next Comp is in Suffolk, so expect a call again..:o

Front page says Best Cod Fishing for 50 Years the write up comes under OH, GLORY DAYS. And the mark is Dungeness.

john.

No problem matey....just tell me where and when you're off to Suffolk, and you'll get all the info you need...as I've fished just about everywhere on the Suffolk coastline.

Well done for not biting either Paul, it always seems as though a thread comes up once in a while with the sole intention of trying to get a rise out of you. Some extremely childish posts on here at times.

ive bought sea angler ever since i started fishing 15 years ago and i find it a good read, ive learnt a lot from it. fair enough the where to fish section might be the same every year but how many of you guys would listen to what it says anyway when all you have to do is wait for the sea's to pick up and be in the right place at the right time, and also you's all know which marks fish the best and when they fish the best. yes there's some articles that aren't everyone's cup of tea but a lot of them are very good. and as far as the add's go why would anyone buy from them when all you need to do is go to your tackle shop which will be quicker and a lot cheaper and if we dont buy from our local tackle shop what will happen to them???. as far as im concerned sea angler is a great read and ill continue buying it for many years.

and also if you dont like the mag DONT BUY IT.

and yes well done for not biting paul, keep up the good work.

just perused my records, the number of big cod caught this year is no different from other years as far as i am concerened.

Personally I think this thread has been started to get a rise out of a certain person. If you dont like the magazine then dont buy it.

If you feel the need to start a thread about the magazine and slag it off at least buy it and make sure you know what's been said.
I find it dull that certain people attack another member constantly about his place of work, grow up please, i'm sure you all left the school yard a long time ago.

Well done Paul for not biting and hard lines to those that were waiting for it and it never came.

Kent, a long way from the North East in fact the North East is not mentioned in the Write up.

john.

ive just got my mag out after reading your post mate and your right there's no mention of the north east it is kent (a long way from here), well spotted. so this whole thing has been a waste of time. so someone has been smoking the happy backy ;). you know who you are...... waiting for it......;)
