Sea Angler

Well there is still fish out there somewhere ,ya just got too be in the right place and the right time using the right bait and that bit of lady luck to go with it, even though we keep throwing a fortunes worth of bait in the sea every week ,we all keep going back out and doing it all over again, if we were catching fish everycast it would become boring and not a sport.

Sounds about right, as i say to our lass "If we caught fish every time, we'd call it catching!!"

i dont know why people start threads about sea angler, all it leads to is a bitch fest from most members on here and then people start having a go at a certain member. at the end of the day if you dont like the mag then dont buy it.

hmmmm - If you look at pages of 4-9 of the latest issue - then please tell me where that feature is based....

....and as for no fish...

take a look at the result panel on page 9...,right place at the right time - you're obviously fishing the wrong marks mate....

Tight lines all....

I'm fishing the Hall beach at Seaham tomorrow - am I just wasting my time....??

This is not a bite by the way fellas - just making a few pointers on the load of sh*t we write...

nice one mate ;)

Who cares :confused::confused:

sea angler, wsf, ego angler monthly, they're all a load of poo and incredibly patronising to anything thats not on the south coast, or anyone who doesn't manage to pull a zillion double figure fish in using some cotton, a bent pin and ear wax for bait, which you have of course managed to cast 8000 yards with ease, and can tie a leader not in your sleep whilst wearing anti-masturbation gloves

why argue, spend your money on something useful, better information to be hand on the internet IMHO.

If you want one to read, get a set of 12 months copies, and using a crayon change the year on each one to 2009 - you'll notice any difference

"best cod fishing for 37 minutes" or whatever is just a headline to make people pick it up, buy it, steal it, or come on a forum and argue about it, thus increasing brand awareness of the thing, and tempting people that gave up on it to go get a copy

The point i was making Paul was that after the last issue with 'Best cod fishing for 50 years on the cover' after all the sh1t it caused and people wondering well, where in the north-east or most of the country is this happening Sea Angler has followed it up with 'Cod Boom we show u how'.....Yes, Drive 300miles down to Kent!

My mates have just started fishing. One has 2 codling size under his belt and the other has yet to catch a sizable fish. Both been out over 20 times each. They've been out with me and one of the north-easts best matchman. Imagine them reading that cover, cos it's disheartening and enough to put them off fishing thinking they're totally useless. Luckily we're telling them the truth and it's bloody hard going and u will have your day, fingers crossed!

Good luck down at seaham though, there should be a nice sea on and i hope u catch your 15 cod that u've been used too.

Same old same old....the monthly Sea Angler thread.

In my early years of angling, the magazine was an invaluable source of information and learning (No internet then). The trouble these days is the amount of information Sea Angler is battling against. I can see two sides to this story. By promoting this 'Cod boom' they're trying to encourage people to go fishing, and so support their local tackle shop. Whether this is right or wrong is a matter of debate.

On the other hand, should Sea Angler be using, as some people say, misleading headlines? Possibly not. But all it takes is for one angler, doesn't matter where they are, to quote this, and Sea Angler can use it as a headline. I'm not privvy to catches all round our coast, but I would like to bet there have been some very good bags caught.

To be honest, I don't buy the magazine anymore, because I used to use it as a learning tool. I'm not saying I know everything, I just don't think it could teach me anything now.

Use the magazine how you want to, to learn new marks, new knots (I learnt the Bimini twist in the Sea Angler) and new rigs. Whether you agree with the headlines or not shouldn't detract from the use you get from the magazine.

At the end of the day, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

i dunno what all the fuss is about.i personally quite enjoy a lot of the articles, tips, tests, comp results etc etc in sea angler:o am still a relative newcommer (spelt right?) to sea fishing, but i enjoy it loads whether i catch a fish or blank yet again. its only a mag after all and you don't have to buy it. its not there fault there's nowt in the north sea (up our end anyway) worth catchin. if ya can ONLY enjoy your fishing when ya catchin i think you should maybe take a long look at yer self and what exactly it is that your hoping to get out of the sport. now wrap up wi the twisting the lot of you:exclam: i remember a sunday sport article about hitler living in a b52 on the moon and it didn't cause half the bother of the last couple o sea angler headlines..................:D:D:D

Put it this way lads. All of us are complaining about the trawlers raping the sea and Sea Angler are promoting a Cod Bananza. Which is it?! I'll go with thye banaza then, let the trawlers do what they want cos theres plenty of fish to be had by all. Sea Angler was right and if anyone doesnt catch a cod they are either useless or very, very, very Unlucky!

Lets all agree there is a steep decline in the winter catches, its been going on for a few seasons now.Iv fished for lots of years and seen the best and the worst winter fishing over the years.
I know last year and also this year has been very poor, to a point some of my good mates have just "put the gear away"now these anglers are very good at what they do catching fish but they've giving up.I never ever thought it would be still viable for the commercial fishing to still make a living when the pleasure angler don't catch off the beach.
And Paul its a poor reply to say you fish the wrong marks, the cod are just not there to catch.
Red put a good handle on it and I agree, small shoals and if you lucky you be among them. The end is nigh Im afraid until the government gives they heeds a shake but for them to do the right thing would be more unemployment.

Sea Angler.

Sea Angler.

I'm not taking anyones side in this debate but can I just point out that these articles are written almost two months before thay actually go to print. Maybe when they were written the fishing was good.
Tight Lines.

Well i am having the worst winter i have ever had, i dont think i have been unlucky so i must be crap!

i think they should make the paper softer on sea angler mag because it hurts my bum when i use it.

joking aside... i read it for years and gained lot from it when i was a "novice" and many people will gain the same what is a good thing.

However there isnt a cod boom, and never ever will be as far as i can see

Take for example..say...the amount of hours..and money put into cod fishing just from anglers on this site this winter and the amount of cod caught...far from a boom i would say
