I was tempted to buy Sea Angler a month or two back but recalled the self same problems of repetition from my previous sea angling days( 20 odd years back and more), when exactly the same thing used to happen; same info, same articles etc. so I didn't waste my money.
It's the same with fresh water fishing literature.
Of course, what happens; is that as the techniques and tackle develop, they only trickle through to the wider world quite slowly. So we end up reading the same old tripe, time and time and time again, with the odd little more interesting tit bit chucked in now and then.
The thing is these days; you don't have to rely on waiting for a magazine to come out every month, hoping you will find something interesting in it.
You simply fire up the pc and away you go:yltype:
Mind you, a magazine is ideal when you're sitting, having a break at work or whatever
cheers
Steve
ive got a pile of them off me mate they going on the nearest bonfire soon![]()
they can give me a job, a could wright better stuff
Why not write an article about angling in the North East and submit it to Sea Angling.
They generally pay for a good aticle.
Then they can print something other than "Bass Stories"
As you have said, You could write better stuff.
Can you?
Can I just chip in...just to point something out...
Current issue: 471 - page 138-140 feature on cod fishing in Northumberland
Previous issue: 470 - page 10-14 feature on fishing from South Shields pier
Issue 467: page 10-12 feature on flounder fishing in the River Wear at Sunderland
Issue 465: page 10-13 feature on flounder fishing in the River Tyne at Hebburn
Issue 465: page 76-79 feature on catching bass at Scarborough
...I won't list anymore because I'm struggling to understand what part of the North East these are not from...
By all means, you have your views on the mag and thats great...you can't please everyone as they say...but before being quick to jump on a runaway band wagon...just take a moment to make sure your facts are completely true...no features based in the North East isn't totally fact now, is it...?
Have fun guys and I hope this autumn and winter is very productive for you all...

Sea Angler
Hi g.ordon,
this is the post above mine from Mike.Haley:
Its not if I want you to.
Everyone complains about Sea Angler, Total Sea Fishing and Boat Fishing Monthly, publishing articles about Bass or about fishing in the South of England.
The reason this happens is that nobody up here will submit any articles about the fishing in this area.
The editors of these magazines live down there, so they fish down there.
So if you want people to know about fishing up here, start writing about it and send it off to Mel Russ, Barney Wright or Dave Barham and maybe they will start to publish a regular North East section.
Get writting and good luck.

A couple of quotes from the said post: 'about fishing in the South of England', 'nobody up here will submit any articles about the fishing in this area.' 'maybe they will start to publish a regular North East section.'
