Advice for Jarrow

Some advice for Jarrow and those in similar situation who do not know many marks to fish because of their inexperience, Why not turn up for the North v South comp, i am sure someone will be willing to take you along for the ride.
If you turn out you are showing willing and perhaps may get more info in future, just a thought.

I totally agree with what 'greggthe1' said on the previous page, Sean like many members on here are willing to share info on marks,rigs etc to those who are willing to put the effort in. This is my second winter of cod fishing and im learning new things every time i fish, wether its info from other anglers or just finding new marks by simply driving around and seeing where roads lead. The best example of this is the heugh pier at hartlepool, my mate gary an i decided to head towards hartlepool one night last year not knowing where we were going and eventually came across the heugh, didnt know anything about the place but gave it a shot and we were both rewarded with codling of 2.5lb for me and a 3.5lb one for gary (our first codling) moral of the story is to get out there and give places a go.

Ive sat on the fence when the whole 'mark x or secret mark'argument has came up in the past and i can see both sides reasoning,however at the end of the day its down to the individual.

Don't kid yourself that 'Commercials' are not interested in a R.S.A. getting a decent bag from a local mark. Trust me, the smaller boats will be on that mark like cack off a stick and once the spot has been well and truly pillaged they'll move on to their usual marks.

Don't forget that all commercial boats are not immense multi-tonne vessels who would't be interested in inshore marks.

It's a pity that the proposed 'One Mile Zone' wasn't implemented.
 
mark X, i can understand the reluctence of some the guys saying were it is, it could be a place that they intend fishing for the next 5 highs, it may be a place that only two anglers max can get to, and then after a fair hike, to get there to find all and sundry fishing there because you let it out is not going to make you willing to do the same again
theres a fair few the lads on here have given me, an ex pat scouser a lot of good info, i do my best to help others when or if i can, sean for one took the chance of taking me under his wing and taking me to his point X last year, even he took time to make sure we were really at it, gave me a hell of a lot of pointers while we were there as well, a bloody good night even if we caught little, other guys have told me were i am making mistakes as well, some of them not off the forum but guys who fish the areas, personally if you dont want to give your `prize` mark then fair do`s, i for one enjoy reading about others having a good session, makes me want to get off my lard ar5e and get some in :p

Well Jarrow, you have a lot of answers. Now you can do what Terry (Yours Truly) suggested, turn up for the NvS match on the 21st. That way you will see first hand how generous the lads are with there advice and mark sharing, a perfect opportunity if you would really like to learn more?

reason i am cheesed, fish are short i agree, but in this crunch a lot of anglers cannot afford to go out anymore, because they are predominately pleasure anglers and i believe they will be lost to the sport, but this will eventually affect the dealers, so why not start to help the medium anglers and those who only go once and a blue moon, me if i caught well somewhere i would let on[/QUOTE]

i know it is hard to believe, but people were fishing long before the internet was ever thought of you know,no such thing as a nesa forum, so what do you think fishermen did for advice then?? just because somebody is catching fish doesn't mean you have the right to catch fish, if you want to catch more fish put the hours in getting bait, and scouting about at low water, not fannying on at the computer. even in perfect conditions with perfect bait fish are never gauranteed, a lot of it is down to luck, right place , right time, no good reading reports and chasing the fish, you'll always be a tide to late.......

seanyroo got a cracking resident cod because he took the chance and just went, luck would have played apart as well because it can be a bad place to retireve even smaller fish, let a lone a doulbler! so rather than feeling sorry for yourself just suck it in and congratulate the lucky angler, jealousy is the worst of all sins after all.....................................

Firstly, thanks about the fish and yes luck does play it's part. However, I think the fact I have had many doubles and regularly catch fish all through the season does not boil down to just luck. Thing is, nobody on here knows exactly where the fish was caught and I can assure you the way the fish was played and landed was not luck but years of experience. I also lost a fish that night around the 6lb mark and that wasn't unlucky just pure stupidity, I saw the fish tangled in some weed not 5 feet away. Instead of trying to pick it up I tried to pull it a bit closer and I pulled the hook out.

What I'm trying to say is that a good angler makes his own luck, and by doing my homework I had put myself in a position where the chances of a decent fish or two and a good bag were highly possible. Granted I lost a couple of fish but because of KNOWLEDGE I was in the right place at the the right time and the odds were stacked in my favour becasue I had prepared for where I was fishing.

Anyway rant over.

I would like to agree with Sean about the luck thing its not about luck or nobody would care about what marks fish and when, whats baits etc etc
I for one believe you make your own luck anyway and with you on the stupidity thing of losing fish how many times do you tell yourself not to go for the pull and the blood rushes in LOL

Jarrow I sided with you at the start of this thread but I have bothered to read alot of the stuff the lads have said in the past and gotta say you have to see there side as they help as much as they can in loads of little ways and if peiced together offer great reference material for future trips!

At the end of the day its down to luck and if Lady luck isn't giving you a big wet smacker on the lips all that hard earned skill and knowledge aint worth jack s**t.

90% = Luck 5% = Skill 5% = Knowledge

Granted I take my hat of to those who put in the time:thumbup:
 
The more u go the luckier u get springs to mind. All good anglers are more likely to give u information if they see u out there fishing the marks rather than sponging info on here. There is an element of luck in fishing but the same names crop up in the frame on matches time, time, again. They put the effort in collecting the best bait they can, keepin it fresh and fishing the marks time again. U only get out what u put into fishing.
