Sea Bass N/E

Alrite new to this forum but been into fishing for years, never really targeted certain fish just anything that would take bait from shore pier and also boat, and spinning in summer for mackerel, but really want to get into fishing for sea bass, bait fishing but really intrested in spinning and using plugs,
Searcherd boards and have heard cambois has seabass so and advice and help would be much appreciated on where the best spots are around the n/e coast and best methods on catching sea bass, cheers

Used to get plenty of Bass at Cambois when the power station hot water outfall was there, since the power station went the Bass are thin on the ground rather than being around in numbers since there's nothing to attract them in. Still get them, but just the odd ones.

Thing with Bass is that people are very reluctant to give away information about where they're catching them for fear the commercial boats will move in on an area, you might find someone willing to private message you some suggested marks though. Blyth - S/Sluice beach turns the odd ones up, as does the Sandy Bay area, but you'll need to put a lot of time and effort in to figure out the tides/conditions etc etc.

Used to get them from the hot pipe in numbers from late May/early June right through the summer. But had the odd ones from the beaches most of the year round.
If you don't mind the drive, I know people have mentioned Torness power station quite often on here.

al give it another few weeks then give the pipe a go, do u reckon plugging or bait is best bet from here? if torness p/s is a constant spot will deffo have a trip up, wat size u been catchin off beach bout 2Lb? cheers

I just wish the bass were here on this coast in numbers.Its always worth giving Luce Bay/Mull of Galloway a bash for them

wont belong for bass all over our coastline not to say they aint here allready but more unusual fish are showing as the water gets warmer

lol not that old kettle of fish!

i've been thinking about trying to target "Bass" for a while now, have seen them caught around the Shields area over the winter and dont see why you couldnt get then over the summer, might have a trip down to the rock with the spinning rod and give it a shot.

Well if Blyth does get the planned new power station, assuming it has an outfall pipe, then we might see them back in decent numbers around that area.

You can catch Bass from Tynemouth, Whitley Bay, Blyth and Cambois beach. Unfortunately not regularly. You can go out one tide and get a few but none on the next few tides. I suppose I am also describing Cod fishing too lol. Hooks not too big, short casts (if you wade in you could scare them away) as they can be as close as the flatties. You can catch them on most baits that you use for Cod as I have found out but Ragworm and Crab have been the most consistant usually cocktailed with Lug when I have been Cod fishing. Not done enough with lures to give any comments on them but I would say it would have to be pretty quiet.

As codseeker says, it won't be long till they are all over the area. There seems to be a lot more of them now than when I first started fishing.

cheers for info mate, also be canny if new outflow happens just hope it wouldnt attract aload of numpties that would abuse the fishing like alot of the reports of torness seem to explain, its a shame these marks are ruined because places like that could be a really good spot if people didnt take the p**s with the fish they are keeping!!

If you get some spare time, have a walk along Blyth beach at low water. There are loads of places you will see that will hold fish. Make a good mark of them so you can find them at high water and then give it a try, the more work you put in the more you will get out of it. Not just for Bass either, these marks will also help with your winter Cod fishing. The holes keep moving about a bit but there are always a few around the same places, both summer and winter.

been fishing the tees bay area for years and i mean years, 30plus and i have only seen1 bass landed, every one tells me there are loads at this mark or that mark use poppers, or other lures try fishing on the bottom with rag or sand eels, only cast 30 yards out to the third wave ect ect, tried the lot with no luck whatsoever, gave up last year don't think i'll bother this year.
