sea licence

i agree with the pier toll but i cant see the licence working at all:confused:
for one you couldnt police it and i think its another light bulb moment from the goverment think tank on how to get even more money out of the working class person because they know the economy is f##ked:mad:
next thing there will be a tax on children rock pool dipping for gods sake:mad::mad:
and i dont think for one minute the licence money would go back into the coastline and improving sea fishing as a whole it would just be a fraction:( plus i think it would affect the local tackle shops and local buisness along the coast aswell!
hope i havent peed anyone off on here but thats the way i feel:mad:

Well I think it's a load of shi£ if you wanna pay 2 fooooooking fish take up fresh water fishing. A think every body has the right 2 fish no mater what your background , what about people who carnt afford it like, how way tackle fooooooking tarts answer that

Yer right mate, businesses would suffer with lost sales of feathers, daylights etc. Or they may be able to get a piece of the action by flogging day tickets for piers etc.:)

rl83 m8, that`s what it`s about, a discussion about issues which every1 has a different opinion about.
only the d*** heads will get p*****off m8.

i agree mate been on one down devon way! £5 deposite for a key to the fishing part
of the pier and theres no carry on with n#b heeds and its nice and clean to! i think thats all they could charge if the pier permit came in to being really! wouldnt have a problem with the piers but along rivers and what have you thats another matter:)

it`s already been said, would be impossible to police the whole coast, but totally agree with the piers, be it licence, summer permit or whatever, something needs doin....!

lo:pl no mate just every time I go to roker pier its like a bump we need to do somthing if not a licence some sort of pass for all piers that would be a good start mate

Im a Sea Angler and Coarse Angler I buy a License every year and can name on one hand the amount of times ive had my license checked in 30 year, but why should the Coarse lads have to pay and not the Sea,I personally dont see any changes that i can say that was payed for by my fee but its wrong for a Sea Angler to suggest Coarse lads should pay,a Sea License would end up the same as Coarse where only the popular venues get checked and 90% of the places never see a bailiff,as said Shields,Roker,Seaham,Blyth would be the obvious targets, the way ahead is to put a small charge on the piers and use this to employ staff to patrol the piers, experienced blokes that could help and advice new commers, education is the Answer not Licenses,it works well on the South Coast and Wales with Llandudno being a Classic example.

great idea permit 2 fish all piers policed by the council 80 quid on the spot fine if caught thay have camaras with em now so not giveing your name wont work when the council start counting the money in fines thay will b as keen as thay are with parking cant come soon enough

Yeah but all piers don't all belong to councils ss Pier and tynemouth pier are owned by port of Tyne and many more are owned by other ports if people keep leaving crap on them it would be far Easier for them to close the pier

Yep, that's spot on.
Once the owners of the piers have had enough the piers will close.
The port have the right to do it. Just ike they have at hendon.
The minority spoiling it for the majority? Or the other way around?
Id gladly pay a fee/toll to fish a pier but it would be a 24 / 7 job to police.
Id certainly rather pay to use the pier than see them closed anyway.

What do you all think of a sea fishing licence, I think it could be a good thing if am right there would invest the money into our sea fishing (like cleaning our piers up add more life saving equipment for the unlucky ones falling in. And more waste bins and I might be dreaming a bit but we could do with more toilets beside our seas and rivers even if you needed some sort of card to use them so you could use them 24-7 am I just dreaming here lads

to pay a licence for rubbish bins and life saving equipment .common sense pick your rubbish up when you fish and also when you leave and life saving equipment is there just as long as the idiots leave them alone, but i would pay the licence for conservation reasons.

id gladly pay a yearly charge for the dock area oh yes without a doubt :D
i would not think twice about get another pass, had one for years until they were stopped, after Anglers :D:D:D:D:D:D stole a 5 ton steel wrecking ball :o probably the poorest excuse ever to close a place ....

I wouldnt go for it at all, it would be just another form of taxation for us. It would be impossible to get any benefit from it and the only ones who WOULD benefit would be the government AGAIN.

cheers,

aa.

I'd pay, and hopefully they would knock down the.number of mongs that get on the piers, but like everything the rules would be broken, people will always speed, take illegal drugs poach land, steal, its a massive waste of time I'd say

There was a consultation a few years back about licensing, part of DEFRA's Marine Bill. I think the whole idea was scrapped after the consultation due to it being impossible to police. There should be quite a few good threads if anyone can be bothered to search the achives
