Sea licence

Well I am sorry lads but I definately say no to a sea fishing licence as sales in our local angling shops would slump and like some of you say some people cannot afford these things and its supposed to be a free country and I suppose we will need a licence to live here as there are more foriegners than british here now but I do agree putting a toll on piers and making sure that anglers remove all their rubbish before leaving the pier and maybe part of that toll could go towards the RNLI dont you think.and maybe our piers would be kept cleaner and more respectable to go on because at the moment they are in sh-t state but saying all this i cannot see this ever happening.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Im a Sea Angler and Coarse Angler I buy a License every year and can name on one hand the amount of times ive had my license checked in 30 year, but why should the Coarse lads have to pay and not the Sea,I personally dont see any changes that i can say that was payed for by my fee but its wrong for a Sea Angler to suggest Coarse lads should pay,a Sea License would end up the same as Coarse where only the popular venues get checked and 90% of the places never see a bailiff,as said Shields,Roker,Seaham,Blyth would be the obvious targets, the way ahead is to put a small charge on the piers and use this to employ staff to patrol the piers, experienced blokes that could help and advice new commers, education is the Answer not Licenses,it works well on the South Coast and Wales with Llandudno being a Classic example.

Rivers and ponds get stocked. Thats why you pay for a license and day tickets etc...

Does the Sea?

if a pass would stop all the pond life then yes but a sea licence would never work got to agree some thing needs doing soon or we will lose access altogether

I dont think the toll idea would work either.

SOME of the "anglers" on shields pier on sunday were older experienced men, that obiously are serious about fishing going by the types of rods, reels etc. But it was them that were ****ing on the pier and letting mackarel flap round and slowly die.

So if we cant get people like these to respect the pier, enviroment, etc then what good would a toll do?

Unless its manned and inspected, which would be more expense

If what you mean by saying "by the types of rods, reels etc", do you mean they had the most expensive latest bits of kit known to anglers? If so this dosen't necessarily mean they were experienced serious anglers, they could just be tackle tarts, the must have's, money to burn. What they haven't got in their tackle box is common sense, respect and morals.

All the talk in the world about tolls, charges, licences won't stop people leaving rubbish these piers are not there for sea anglers they are break waters to protect harbours we are very lucky in the north east to have so many piers that we can use but if we don't leave them tidy they will be closed off it's up to us to tell other anglers to pick up any crap they leave let's face it some people know right from wrong and some are just thick as ****.

There was a consultation a few years back about licensing, part of DEFRA's Marine Bill. I think the whole idea was scrapped after the consultation due to it being impossible to police. There should be quite a few good threads if anyone can be bothered to search the achives

Money making schemes like that are never scrapped mate...Some pen pusher in Whitehall will simply looking at other ways of implementing and enforcing a licence
