Seaham.

Got a phone call off Allan (endeavour16) asking if I fancied a trip out Wednesday, as the weather was looking good.
I arrived at Allans at 9:30, loaded the car and off to NETS to get some lugworm. Got to Seaham marina just after 10 the dock gate was still closed which gave us time to have a sandwich and tackle up.Expectations were high as the last time out no cod about but the whities were like mackerel, we were catching two or three big ones at a time.

Just after eleven the gates opened. There were two boats in front of us and as the lights turned green we were off. There are only a few boats in the marina at the moment, but I think it will be like the M25 in the summer with boats waiting for the gates to open and jostling for place.

Out through the gates with Dogs B in front.

Nice day with a few people fishing the pier.

We motored about half a mile off the pier and decided to drift with mackeral baited hokkais, not a bite. We drifted a few places and anchored a few places, tried a couple of mile off but not a bite.We uptided and downtided with big baits, nothing not a sniff. But hey it was a nice day and there's no other place I would have rather of been.
It was coming upto slack water so we decided to move inshore and anchor just south of the pier. Our expectations were still high as we thought the fish would come thick and fast as the tide started to ebb.
On went four lug and a whole squid, after about 10 mins my rod started to twitch and then bent over double, fish on. I had just bought myself a new Kenzaki 12/20 and could feel every twist and turn and knew it wasn't a whitey, when it surfaced it was a nice codling of 4.5lbs which Allan promptly
netted

Allan said hold it towards the camera, as they look bigger. I think it was to hide my face.

Two fish in 10 minutes, we decided to stay a bit longer the tide turned but not another bite.
Four o clock we decided to call it a day and headed in. Only one fish a piece but an enjoyable day with good craic.

Sundown at sunny Seaham.

Well done lads, it’s good to read that boats are still getting out and finding fish. Your last picture is a cracker and looks chilly.

Well done Davey, nice shots.

The marina looks scarce at the moment, i thought it would have a few more boats in, good location tho, great grounds and wrecks off Seaham.

Rob maybe your right, it may be a vetting thingy with selective process, normally takes a week for that UNLESS there is an anomaly in the requestee,
.....Jester grease ya wheels !!

Any idea what the price for a 20ft boat is at the marina? it is a further 5 miles drive for me but something to consider due to its great fishing grounds close by.

I think this marina will be very busy with fishing boats soon.
