Its my first winter season so need a bit of advice. When the sea gets rough is it best to stay away from casting into the waves ? I fished on the beach at Whitby a few weeks ago in big waves at a mark where I normally catch well fishing close in the surf, but with big waves on it seemed impossible to hold bottom even with a 6oz breakaway. My instinct is that its necessary to cast out past the breakers and keep the rod tip high. Does that make sense and apologies if its a daft question.
yes you need to clear the breakers when beach fishing or your gear will end up back on the beach half the time. fishing of a pier its sometimes worth chucking just behind the breakers.
what a bummer im not out this weekend!!! my back is fooked and not unless it makes a miraculous recovery i'll be neewhere this weekend!! well apart from the Blyth game like!!
