[The Great Wallsendo]

Anyone ever been "inside" the virtual world that is Second Life?...I've read about it and it's featured in a couple of books I've read recently (Koontz and Stephen King) so to be frank it kinda creeps me out a bit - or at least the concept does...

...living vicariously through forums is one thing, but this seems to take it to a whole different level

Or am I being close minded to the whole thing?

that said, with the right attitude you can have a laugh.

2nd lifers take it way too seriously (well some of them)

in some ways its a glorified chat room set in a virtual world (think sims 2)

so wind them up, break into their houses, nick their stuff and pee on their carpets

I ahve one client that has so far spent 20k (thats sterling punds not linden dollars) on their second life presence

search ebay for 2nd life and see what sort of mad things you can buy

spend your real money, to buy something that doesn't exist. Some people have made big bucks out of it though, and linden dollars are now a recognised currency and can be exchanged for real ones

My first stab in there got me banned sharpish - I opened a bank! offered 15% interest, stoopid people would give their linden dollars to me, and earn interest.

I was just gonna cash em in and do a Lehmann brothers, but they stomped on it fairly quickly!

then I found someone who would pay you 100 linden dollars an hour to sit and watch ads. but if you just leave it there it logs you out after 15mins, so I wrote a wee applescript on the mac that made my avatar stand up and site down every 5 mins - enough activity to not get logged out. left it running about a month before the stomped on that one as well, but 100$L and hour, is $L2400 a day, the exchange rate then was about $L120 = $1 US, about 20 real dollars a day... 7 days a week for a month just by leaving a machine running doing nowt... about 70 quid a week for leaving a machine doing nowt!

my plan was to leave loads of machines running at once and then retire!

my next cunning plan was to run a"National Linden Lottery" then do one with the proceeds. At the time I had a firm of solicitors as a client, and asked them about it. as far as they could make out it was just a game, and virtual, so how could a fraud have taken place!

couldn't be arsed though

not been in for about a year, but still have a few thousand linden dollars in there if you want em, exchange rate has dropped though about 250$L to the real one

I think my 'offices/studio' are still there if you go in. I even had a yacht!

I gained a second life ....but mine is a real one ,cheated death or at least a wheelchair so I'm now living my second life to the full . Roll on Australia ,only weeks away now...........

Hijack away my freind...it is threads such as these that are designed to go leftfield should the mood take .thanks T.G.W ahh where to start leftfield & the leftism album with guest john lydon aka mr rotten on open up ,burn holly wood burn excellent stuff saw them at the mayfair (rip) amazing nice to see the thermen ? (beach boys good vibration noise ) make a come back & steve have you heard the klf chill out album ? it was made as a parody of the chill out dolphin whale vibe back then and features samples of elvis the tommy vance friday night rock show ,fleetwood mack and some mad stuff ,but became a classic chill out album . my mate who was living down in london at the time & was at university with darren emerson of underwold fame (i have more stories on that subject) found a tape on the underground un marked it turned out to be that album ,it took ages to find out what it was i had to buy the cd version on import as klf delited all there back catalogue if you need a copy (everyone should have one ) ill do you one no probs we should all get together on a friday night for a session with a getto blaster and listen to pete tong while pulling in double figure cod
