Hmm also if you look even closer you can see it\'s got a burst nose obviously from coming into contact with a geet hard geordie cod who didn\'t like the way it was looking at it\'s pint.

EXCUSE ME, but the article in the sunday sun does not say it is a porbeagle, suggest you read the artcile again. No wonder the wrong info gets spread around.

Below is the original article

For many years anglers have said there are sharks, suspected to be mainly porbeagle, tope, and blues off the north east coast, they have seen them, lost fish on the retrieve to them, and have been mocked in quite a few quarters for saying so. Wow, a few seals, porpoises, well more than a few, get the chop and their carcases get washed up and suddenly an investigation is underway to see if one of the most dangerous sharks in the sea, a “Mako” is on the prowl along our coastline. And the media is doing its best to cause an unwarranted Jaws style panic, a warning has gone out in some quarters that people should take care while swimming, at this time of year who? is going to swim in the north sea, well surfers will, but if they wish to dress up like seals. Maybe anglers wading out to cast should take care not to get their toes nibbled. Why has it taken so long for somebody to take notice, could it be the fact that because of the lack of other food sources cod etc, that the always present sharks have started chomping cuddly creatures. Before anglers go rushing down to the sea in their tiny boats to try and catch this beast, beware if it is a Mako, they can grow well in excess of 1,000lb and have probably caused more damage to boats and anglers than any other shark when hooked. Stick to your cod fishing.

Sorry for the incorrect info Mr. Charlton, The photo in the paper and the related article seemed to point out that it was a porbeagle and if I am mistaken, I hold my hands up. There again, we cannot ALL be sooper-dooper journalists like you, Sam Harris etc, etc, etc, who get EVERYTHING right all the time.

cheers.
george.

NO Mr. Catchalot, I DONT always believe what I read in the papers. It wasnt THE SUN as you suggest anyway it was THE SUNDAY SUN.

george.

Oops Sorry .. I didn\'t realise the the Sunday Sun was of better quality than the normal Sun.

Anyway in the original press release that was issued, stated that there was very little chance of it being a Mako or a great White as first suggested.

The media in true tabloid style took this and fabricated their own stories, with claims of experts saying this and that... yet know one knows just who these so called experts are.

Check the Shark trust\'s website out for the up to date info on this.

Hi gag 1 i do belive in the editorial section in the article tyhere the lass from the sea life centre did say it could possibly be a porbeagle. As for always being right, of course i am, well most of the time, well maybe some of the time, well at least a little bit of the time.

Howay Mr. Catchalot ! of course the Sunday Sun is of far better quality than the SUN ! its got an angling page for a start !!!!!!!

cheers.
george

Hi gag1 after many years experience of winding people up, sometimes coming close to getting a punch on the nose, it takes quite a bit to get me to bite, unless i want tyo go along with the game. Dont tell anybody though.

Mark that is spooky mate. I was sent that picture a couple of years back (I think) and was just telling the lads about it in the bar tonight. Excellent pic.

Jim.

Aye definitely a dolphin. Curved dorsal and horizontal tail. Mind you could be a dolphin/shark hybrid lol!

Hmmm update time:

Ok the carcases are not seals but porpoises and they have been disposed off without any post-mortem. However it is now being stated that it is unlikely to have been a shark attack as both specimens show signs of net damage. So the finger is pointing towards commercial by catch :(

As I said previously on this post everything that has been said has been taken with a pinch of salt as it should be. I mean you wouldn\'t believe anything you read on the net would you.
If anyone that has posted so far with there so called proof OR ideas on what this creature is supposed to be please enlighten us non believers. If you can\'t do that at least give us some idea of where you got your information so that we can make our own minds up.
Please make it quick to stop me dancing all over the place with anticipation lol.

Jim.

quite obviously the dead animals are the result of a hideous experiment by pygmi aliens, who just happen to have an amphibious spaceship that looks like a shark. the dead creatures would of started there lives in the deep south of america and were all called Jed. They were abducted by the aforementioned aliens who took exception to their banjo playing, whereupon they were subjected to various mind and body altering substances (white lightning & Netto Sherry mainly) with the intent of converting them to a more intelligent form of life. When they learnt that as seals, they were no longer able to marry their cousins and couldn\'t reach to open the door of their \'trailers\' (caravans) they enlisted in The US army where they were set to IRAQ and used in bombing raids to destroy Saddam Husseins collection of betamax video systems (ever wondered where they all went??). Unfortunately, the american airforce are not very good at hitting the correct target so were dropped in the north sea, but unfortunately collided with a squadron of flying pigs who\'d heard sunderland had won the chamionship, hence the strange injuries they had when found.

hope that clears up the confusion

Yep, ya right, Jim.

I think we are all over looking the obvious explanation...........

alien abduction !

It\'s well documented that aliens have been visiting earth for days (if not centuries) and stories of alien \"kidnappings\" for \"experimentation\" are commonplace........well, more common than a Mako shark off the Tyne, anyway.

Having carried out their experiments to see how these sea dwelling creatures work, they return them to the sea. Unfortunately, they haven\'t yet realised that returning them without their heads is detremental to their chances of survival upon return.

When fishing from Shields pier last week, I noticed an awful lot more shooting star activity........perhaps they weren\'t \"shooting stars\" at all, but another squadron of alien craft looking for more seals.....or was it porpoises?.......or polar bears?.......or even the elusive cod?

..........ah haaaa......mebbies that\'s the reason behind the dramatic decline in cod stocks over recent years........Ah Yes.....it\'s all becoming pretty obvious now !
