Following the reports that the porbeagles are around I have arranged a sharking trip on Friday on Flamer 2 from Hartlepool.

We will be leaving at 5pm and getting back late. There are a few places spare if anyone wants to come along. It will be bait fishing over rough ground at anchor. Cost will be £10-£15 quid.

Let me know if you fancy trying something different.

Cheers
Dave

A very big porbeagle was observed last week close to Hartlepool. Tides are excellent on Friday and the water is crystal clear. Good luck.

Yer small tides, clean water so if weather is good it should be a great change.

I am stuck at work but would say if any sharks out there Dave wll know how to catch them so dont be shy lads try and be the 1st to catch a shark this year on rod and line from our coast

the said fish was caught by dave the skipper (FAMOUS) a week gone saturday, est to be around 200LB,there were a few fish coming up bit so dave put a wire trace on dropped 20 ft and bang fish on ,dont know how flamer11 is making a living charging £10 TO £15 the price of fuel

The price is work out exactly how Kieth says...will be a few hours and most at anchor.

I payed for all the trip ;)...and cost per person will be zero...as the skipper is funding this one ...Thanks John.

All places taken but unfortunately we wont be the first to catch a porgie this year. A freind has had four so far this year. Seems like the odds are good.

Rest assured if we get one we will post pic here first :)

...Thats after emailing them to alan.

its a bit like the tope the famous had 3 years ago strange but true, these fish are there but no one fishes for them same as conger eels

there are some pics on another website will try and find them problem with the vids is that there were only 3 people on board and rich ward the skipper had to then help unhook the fish etc.

good result for both our teams today - roll on 5:15 for newcastle to get beat LOL

There are porbeagles in this area right now and they have been caught at 'the wall of death'off Whitby. I was talking to 3 anglers that witnessed the one at Hartlepool where it swam up and bit a cod in half - but it was never caught.

alan,
the truth is on the friday there was a lad bringing a fish up then his rod bent double and when he got it up it was a head that had been stripped, then on the saturday the same crack so dave the skipper put on a wire trace drooped 20 ft and bang ,he had the fish along side all happend so quick no time for pictures wot a shame

I was Invited to have a go at the porgie's on board FLAMER 2 with Dave and John . The fishermen getting off the boat were saying " are you going aftet the sharks " . no wonder they were excited because they had seed a big porbeagle swimming around the boat while they were out during the day. We steamed out about a mile and stopped for some mackeral for the rubby dubby, After John gets us out on the shot and anchors up, we swing round in what little tide there was. Dave set the scent trail with the chum bags, and the slick was streaming away to the horizon. Dave and Graham ( Oblickta ) set the rods away off the stern all at different depths, and we settled down to a bit of bait fishing while waiting for the ratchets to start screaming :D. After all the craic, a few codling the occaisional ling, pollack, and sixsfootspoutings, the sharks wern't having any. Well done Tim and son on the port side . Nice to meet Dave and Graham off NESA . And like they say. you have to be in it to win it. :)

thanks Jim :)

I am hopefully out on Flamer 2 next weekend and I have been watching this thread with the hope of reading the words " I think we need a bigger Boat ". Sorry to hear you didnt catch but the excitement / anticipation must have been immense. I was desperately hoping for a slighly better end to a good story, better luck next time.
