sharks etc for the table

firstly I would like to point out that I am totally against any form of commercial fishing for any form of shark. But another thing I am against is waste. I would just like your thoughts on, whether we should eat sharks that are accidentally caught in nets, I have been to the quay yesterday to get some shark, had i known it was alive when caught and maybe could have been released I may have thought differently. And what about all the dolphins etc, yes i do know they are mammals, that are caught accidentally, should they just be dumped back in the sea or should they be landed and eaten, never had it but would suspect it would taste nice. I know doing this could encourage some people to deliberately catch these species, but if they kept landing them i think the powers that be would soon realise. I think we might also get a shock as to how many are actually caught in nets, although this is denied.

Anything including sharks that are accidentally caught in nets and die during the process should be used properly ( eaten or recycled for fertiliser etc.) in my oppinion ,the only problems I can see with that is the possibility that some may target them for added gain and of course as you mentioned the chance that the anti's might find out that more are being caught than we know about ..... not that I know anything about these things.

luckily (for the sharks) they are not that common in our waters, and there are no quotas for them, so if they were common I'm sure they would be targeted,

for now though the odd dozen maybe that get landed a year could be taken as a sign that their numbers are on the increase again??
