Shed/garage security.

Been hearing of a few shed break ins lately. Dont do any shore angling here now, but this is how I protect my scooter, for £20.
1 alarm mine, available from bagnall and Kirkwood, or ebay.
length of shockleader for a detonating cord.
tub of cheap ground white pepper.
Shotgun cartridge.
Remove the shot from the cartridge and cut to length, some mines will allow you to fit a full cartridge, some wont.
Fit the mine to your garage or shed, inside the door, (be careful where you fit it, mine is fitted 6 inches off the roof)
Load the de-shotted cartridge into the mine, remember to leave safety pin in.
Make a tube from card, about six inches long, so it fits snugly over the cartridge.
Fill the tube with the pepper.
Attach the shocklead to the pull pin, and the other end to a split pin, which should be hooked on a cuphook on the back of the door, so that when you open it, you can unhook the detonating cord.

Smackhead come along, breaks off the shed lock, opens the door just that bit too far.... BOOM! White pepper everywhere.
Believe me, it works, and as long as you dont point it directlly at the door, its legal.

No legal i am sure but it will make them think twice.

I was walking down the street today and this lad about 16-18 punched and chucked his g/f to the floor 30ft infront of me, i shouted over along the lines of what you think your doing...the reply i got was not from him who looked up and walked away but from her on the ground shouting "f**k off got nothing to do with you" well as my dad says its a world of sh*te breading sh*te.

Ow yer the point was its not legal but should be with all the scum around.

Your lucky the two of them never joined forces and had a go at you. That's what sometimes happens with ar*****s like that.

Good idea I have a night vision camera recording inside and outside my shed 24/7 it might not stop them thieving but Ile know who done it

They are great but can see one problem with your post.
What you didn't mention is....
Anyone without a current shotgun certificate cannot buy shotgun cartridges and if anyone was caught even with a cartridge that has had the shot removed, it is a firearms offence.
To stay within the law, you would have to purchase the actual blank firing cartridges that do not have any projectile etc (this includes the powder & wad within a cartridge).
It is the primer alone that makes the loud bang.

Putting anything within a cartridge, including pepper, is an offence as you are then adding a projectile, even if it is facing away from the door.

I don't mind anyone protecting their equipment / sheds etc, but what I don't agree with is folk that are not licenced, getting hold of live cartridges etc.
I am a shotgun certificate holder & have been for 25 years & people getting arrested for firearms offences will just make it even harder for us legal certificate holders to get renewals in the future.

Not getting at you mind Hiram m8, just voicing my opinion.

Fair comment.
I was unaware of the fact you now have to have a Firearms Cert to have a cartridge, I asked a mate for a couple as I didnt want to buy a bag of 20 blanks. Think I will take a gamble on anyone calling plod and saying, "I was breaking into this garage officer and there was a big bang etc etc...

Pure chilli oil extract, the stuff that comes with lots of warnings, takes just a drop but get it in the wrong place and you don't ever make the same mistake again. Choosing where to places the drops is the hard part of course, but if you know where a scumbag lives then his door handle is a top choice - how people many walk into the house and straight to the loo....... ;)
