quite true but some people just don't like their photo taken and don't like to say where they caught their fish from

A lot of it has to do with reputation, and being reluctant to reveal where
you caught a bag of flounders does'nt help, especially after the comp
is over:(

You CANNOT accuse anyone of "cheating" without proof and for people on here to do so is wrong.

99% of the time I would firmly agree with you,however....
Said angler has been kicked out of 2 clubs for cheating, barred from an open north of the tyne after several allegations and refusing a car/box search, and turned away at the weigh in of another. He also admitted to fishing out of bounds after being questioned when weighing in a suspicious bag in this open last year or year before and after another highly suspicious result in an open north of the tyne even the lad who was his pairs partner at the time refused to take his half of winnings from him so as not to have his name stained by him anymore.these are just a small number of facts and I am aware as are dozens of anglers of many others so in this case perhaps you can see why questions are raised and although I could not fish I am told by anglers present he was roundly booed when collecting prize.

Good synopsis of peoples concerns. I wonder how many flounders were weighed in? and what percentage he caught. Just like the coalies in the open north of the tyne. That day there was not one other coalie weighed in yet he had about 20 iirc. It is not proven but it is extremely suspicious, YET AGAIN.

The sad thing is we should be talking about a well deserved and top win by Paul yet we are talking about this individual.

Then why did the SS Club accept his entry?, I am informed that he fished church bank and was seen to have caught fish, is this true? I don't know...............but then does anyone. Ask me if I think the angler in question "cheated" I would have to say yes, however I repeat without proof it IS wrong to accuse...........May I add Well done to PAUL on his win.

He said he fished the stone steps at marsden beach I fished there for a year and only managed 3 flattys in a year I don't trust him he seemed very shifty when questions were asked and after all the competition was finished why hide ur mark you fished and for the photo he probs didn't want it took so the person fishing alongside him wouldn't recognise him well that's what I think

The answer is to refuse his entry in the first place, If his entry is accepted then unless there is enough proof of wrong doing he has the right to weigh in.

Its difficult when you have several venues selling tickets in the days leading up to the competition and not everyone knows who he is.

Same old ?

Same old ?

How do some People sleep at night.......
We all need to hear some sorts of proof to say where the Fish in question where actually caught, some body out there knows ! ;)

I bet we see the numbers drop in future for the opens and this is what happens when you have these kind of DODGY so called sea anglers allowed to fish.

I was informed that " some guy " had 2 Flounders each over 2lb in weight to go with his bag of really nice Flounders for the TYNE ! if this is true:

Here's a one for you, out of all the Flounder matches from ten years ago until now fished in the River Tyne, I was wondering how many top anglers in the North East, likes of Gazza and Jim Dobie and don't forget wor Stringer have actually caught more than 1 Flounder in a Match over 2 pound in weight ? and these are our Top Bananas who know how to fish for them.

NAME and SHAME that's what we should do ?

THEN BAN THEM FOR LIFE FROM EVERY CLUB - TACKLE SHOP - AND EVERY FISHING EVENT........

Game Over.

unless you can prove he cheated then there is nowt you can do and if i knew a spot were i could bag up on flounders i woul;dnt say unless i had to which he doesnt if the ss club didnt want him to fish shouldnt of took his money simple and as for selling the tickets tell every ticket suppliuer as you drop the tickets of the list of names banned

Well said Phil

So much has been said, regarding 'suspicion' of cheating, and that proves
nothing,in fact it can even be attributed to jealousy.I suppose you could
have someone watched, during a competition,if the suspicions were particularly
strong, but even that would be difficult. You could add a rule, that if asked,
a competitor must reveal where they were fishing, but even this may not
be foolproof. The most damning indictment,of the said angler,if it is true,is
he refused a tackle/car search.I have happily allowed my gear to be
inspected, before a comp a couple of times,as in one instance,a pair of cheats
were caught, and banned for life.I'm pretty sure it's an accepted rule in
fishing competitions anyway. What should happen though,is if a person is
caught bang to rights, their name should be circulated throughout the
fishing fraternity, and they should be banned for life from every future comp.
In my opinion,once a cheat,always a cheat.

let me get this ,a angler shud have hes car searched ,box ,so this saying the guy as cheated and caught or brought these flounders up as young flounders or caught them the week before and fed them and waited for the right moment to weigh them in ,i wud be sad to see fish go i have brought up :D
