shields fish quay

spent a few hours tonight on a mates trawler, tailing prawns, tied up to the fish quay. a lot of the other boats there doing the same

thought occurred to me for anyone thinking of having a chuck down there, as near the gut as possible, that prawns might be a cracking bait to have a go at, from all the boats down there doing the same thing there must have been tens of thousands of prawn heads going down the chutes into the river - serious amount of ground bait

dunno if it would work, or wether there's so much going in the water, the fish will be too well fed, but thought it might be worth a shot for anyone going out over the next few days

funny you should mention this mark, but there was a bloke fishing close to the gut mouth last sunday, he appeared to be pulling in good sized coalies in almost every cast as other anglers struggled further along the quay so there you go maybe this is the case,as when we were young uns we used to enjoy the good fishing at the estuary wall next to lloyds jetty everytime the tynebrand pie factory used to spill out all of its goodies at high tide directly into the river. cheers bud.
