Hey guys! After 5 months of hibernation
I finally got out fishing today!
Got down to shields pier at around 11am. Even though it was told it was not recommended to fish where I started, I still chose to fish the Brigade hut. After an hour or so spinning and nothing to show for it, I headed to the round end to see what's what.
When I got there it was business as usual, daylites being cast left right and centre, so I stuck to the Small Wall side for a bit. Wasn't long before I finally hooked into my first fish in 5 months, and my first mackerel of the year.
After that, the sport was hectic. One young angler caught a very nice chunky mackerel, weighing a good 2lb 2ozs on the scales. I Lost count of how many I landed, and how many lost at the wall or on the lift. All in all I easily must have had 30+ fish, all Mackerel, all of which were either returned or given away if to badly hooked. I myself only kept 10 mackerel for the freezer, as well as a few greater sandeels.
Was a great spinning session, and was a great day for it, and was great to be out again!
Was also very nice to meet both fishingmark and mick dunn too.
All in all, a great day!!!
