Shields pier this morning

Woke up at 3.30am and couldn't get back to sleep, so did what most would do and went to grab a few mackerel while it was quiet, or so I thought lol. I got onto pier at 5am thought I had put my bag in a puddle as my arse was soaked, then realised my bloody juice bottle was open and had flooded my bag, great start ffs.

Got to end of pier and could see what I thought was a rod, then closer I got to end realised it was a rod rest, no ones about though so must of been left I thought. As I got even closer noticed loads of rubbish, empty beer cans, a bag with a couple of mackerel in and then noticed a rod on the ground, and further again I got and there was another rod, and then a tent.

To say the POT guy was pi$$ed off about the mess and the life belt would be an understatement.

Anyway I got myself 3 mackerel and 2 sandeels, was another fella with a few mackerel and another few fellas came and went with the odd mackerel and sandeel, no great numbers just yet though.

Glad you got a couple of mackie Pete. That gear was left by a bloke and his bairns who were fishing when I was there last night. He tried to bum some daylights off me and a swivel off my mate then later on tried to sell my mate that rod with the broken tip  His daughter was not fishing but was just hanging around wearing what looked like pyjama bottoms and a light inadequate jacket while the rain hammered down. You get allsorts up there in mackie season. We moved down and fished the harbour side opposite the blocks to avoid them.

They were the ones camping Mike, broken Greys rod aye, lol, they were after daylites this morning. She puked in the tent and so it went over the wall.

Bloody hell some people are just completely mental. Who would camp at the end of Shields pier in all the p**s and sh**e for a few mackerel. Not right in the head if you ask me.

Nice report mate . It never fails to amaze me some people can carry full cans of beer / bottles of pop etc all the way up the pier but cant be arsed to carry the empty lighter cans / bottles a few yards to the bin

Lets hope they dont get fishing stopped on there for the decent guys

Hi Guys

given my day job got huge concerns given the kid being on the pier overnight in the conditions

Typical pier look in the summer, bags strewn out, daylite packets and cans all over. Makes us decent anglers look a disgrace, it's not hard to simply get a carrier bag and put any waste in it and put it in the bin!

Besides that, glad you had a little productive session Pete.

Typical trampy chav who lets there daughter sleep in a tent on a pier what if the sea lifted thick as shi...t comes to mind what chance has that lass got probs pregnant by 15 scum breading scum i wish they would shut the piers from march june till october

if anything happed to the kid on the pier would come my way at work

as said sea could get up, kid could trip slip near the railings/steps in the dark, especialy when its wet and then parent would be half cut and unable to help

What is your line of work mate if you don't mind me asking?

absolute disgrace was it his daughter ? what's the life ring doing on the deck that may be needed to save some one's life one day, tiny minority tar's all fisherman with the same brush to the public, was on Roker pier a few years ago kid spinning with a baby in the push chair no nappy change or bottle for hours the baby was crying and he was shouting shut up me and the guy next to me had enough and told him he packed in, got aload of abuse as he walked off what planet do these people live on

It's a disgrace that's why I hate the piers this time of year then you get all the scroungers have you got this have you got that I can have then as soon as you catch something their in your back pocket casting over the top of you

aye pete the pier was virtually spotless lats night and even cleaner after pier man came down, the plonkers in question brought 2 cases of ale down with them maybe 3 as they had that many bags with them, the one with the broken rod seemed on something when he arrived as he not have time to get drunk whilst i was there and was glad to get away when it was time for me to go home, they came down when rain was at its worst and never even had any dececnt clothing just relied on the tent but was good fun watichin put the tent up in that wind

Have a just read somethink like the shamless story line? this made me lmao some people make you laugh

If something happens to a kid on the pier overnight then it will be the end of out of hours fishing for all of us. PTO would be made to ensure pier was properly closed on a night time

It's not just these "chavs" that will ruin it for the rest ov us! Because all these so called experienced anglers are just as bad as a seen for meself on ssp on the weekend!rubbish and p!ss all over the floor.being very loud and swearing there heads off when there is family's walkin up and down with small children wich a find very disrespectful!
