shockleader keeps snapping?????

I use 18-20lbs main with a 60lbs shock and i manage to get a neat knott, when you're loading the shock on you want a least half a rod length of shock from the rod tip to the top of the rig body then 5/6 turns on you're reel.....does this make sense?

Anyway if you're cracking off whilst you are "loading" the rod during the cast it could be the knott or a nik in the shock

If you're cracking off after you've released the cast it's more likely due to over-run on the reel causing the line to flare and snap off - try smoothing the cast or using more brake on the reel to slow the spool - when you get more confident you can do this with you're thumb

hi lads ive just started using my multiplier without the levelwind, cos ive just been getting a mag 525,im using 20lb main and 60lb shockleader, its working ok the it snaps all of a sudden,is it the way im tying the knot,or not turning not enough times??? help please lads:red:

haven't had time to read other answers so somebody may already have suggested using a heavier main line 30-35lb as 20lb line to me is a bit light and will easily cut through your 60lb line. Is your shock leader long enough to get a good four or five turns round the reel spool, also checkj your eye holes for damage and your line for damage after every cast, this might be the cause if it is intermitent. Or on the odd cast you could be letting go a tadge to late and you are getting a whip effect.
