shore crabs

has any one used regular shore crabs off the beach or pier live on a big hook?? if so did you have any success?

you always find hardback crabs in the stomach of cod but try using them for bait :thumbdown: especially around here.
the only success i've had with hardbacks is that it sorts out the better wrass and that was on the west coast.

you surely Cant see a bass or a codling turning one down in clear water could you? even if its not a peeler still a crab...

They are supposed to be canny for wrasse, be interesting to see how you get on.

i was gonna hook it once through the side so the legs are over the hook and elastic that side to the hook

never used a one but if I had to I think I would pull the claws and legs off and then hit it with a rock to break the shell then wrap it on with lacky.

you can if you tie it by its legs after all your float fishing not casting it . davy.

The little gets dont come off when reeling in lol however they do come of casting them

I reckon maybe not if you use good quality elastic phil
