Our lass lost her job on Friday, decided not to keep her on after a years probation due to poor attendance - 2 days sick in a year is apparently poor attendance - fckers
Shes appealing it like but that is another story.

I have the full whack with Sky - telly, broadband and phone. Still need the phone and internet so the TV has gone and along with that £30 saving a month.

Anyone recommend an alternative to Sky?

weve got sky mate costs us about 80 quid a month but that's for the tv broadband and telly ( same as you) often thought about getting shot of it and I think you can get some canny free view gear now, sure you can pause it and record it just like sky.

my pal bought this sattilite dish from B&Q aswell, (think it was last year) easy to install, and im sure you get the same if not more channels than sky, think it cost about £40.

Yeah Mick this is what I am on about.

I think you get a lot of this stuff for free now anyway but Im not clued up with it all.

Sorry to here about wife's job fella

There's loads of satellite receiver options m8.
But do need a working sky-dish
Active internet & then a connection to a server!
Which can get from £6+ a month

Dreambox £140ish
Open/skybox £55ish
Vu-solo/uno/duo £200+
Gigablue £150+

Just too name a few

think its just a freeview box you need to get Liam mate, from what I understand you can get different ones, like I say you can get ones that pause and record tv or ones that just show you all the freeview channels, argos might do them mate, or currys, don't think they cost that much, some TV's have the freeview built in mate aswell.

Sorry to hear about your situation.
We binned sky after I got made redundant a few years back. Paid about 20quid for a sky view card (direct from sky) nd you get all the freeview channels (except Dave) plus a lot more. Dish and wiring etc was already there no no other costs.

You'll still get freeview with the old card even after they deactivate it.

Or as mentioned, search ebay for "skybox gift"

Good luck with the appeal.

we had sky a few year ago had nowt but bother with them the phone socket and router were put up stairs on the landing my lap top and the daughters wouldn't connect to the wifi we went back to virgin and have no bother since but just been told a mate has bought a box for £80 and all you need is internet connection and you get all channels including the footy

liam , ur sky box is now a freesat box basically. which is bette than freeview. i have unlim calls and unlimm bb with sk togetha with line rental its 25 pound. i pay an extra pound for my tv with them for some reason. u really need to negotiate with sky to the best for ur dosh and dont be afraid to hoy ur 30day notice . the best day t ring them to get a good deal will be a tuesday which is when sky gets their retention budget so ive heard.

ur pother options are bt or talk talk for a triple play deal around similar price. however it depends on where you live. if u r in horden u mite be able to get fibre .
i mainly use netlix (usa) for a fiver a month and also lovefilm (12pounds for six months. ) and they arent bad.

Cheers lad, some brilliant advise there really helps.
I'll do a bit of research based on suggestions and go from there.

The BB and phone is £25 for me also with Sky, I'm alright paying this as Sky have always been no bother at all with me.
Think I have been gettin done with the £33pcm Sky TV like - no extra channels at all just the standard package...seems to be a lot better out there
