sleekburn water

i pass sleekburn water a couple of times a week and most times the gates are closed it never looks open have a few mates that live next to it and they say its full of weed and they never see a rod on it, but when i get the sunday sun there,s a catch report in do,es anyone actually fish this water . cheers jamcod

Hi Jamcod, hows things Jim?, i started wiv the fly last summer, mint!!!!, fished sleekburn a couple of times, had 3 rainbows, deffo gannin back soon, am off to Witton on Sunday, also fished Langley Dam about 4wks back landed 6, limit 5 fish, lost a couple more, and that was a freebie thro work!!!! give it a go m8, tight lines

I used to fish sleekburn every week a few years ago as it used to allow night fishing all night and it never looked open then If no body was in the hut I and others used to go on and fish and pay when they came back dont know what it is like now is there not a number in the paper to ring , if you do fish it try a yellow buzzer under a bite indictator

Hi Jimmy, I fished Sleekburn a couple of weeks ago and there is still a weed problem, trying to straight line a buzzer was a waste of time as they were always catching the weed.
If anyone wants to fish they have to ring Marty on his mobile and sort things out.
There has been some cutting back of hedges etc to enhance your backcast but unless the weed is addressed more urgently it will flare up soon as the growing season starts and the problem will be worse.
Lets hope Marty sorts things out soon as it was and still could be a first class place to wet a line.
