Only been to Graveyard once and never did great but this like most wrecks/marks each day is different.

With the boat i have at the moment it is capable of getting there but at its speed 10knots it would take some time unless i wnated to push it abit mroe and have a fuel tanker for the way back :)

richie i cruise at 22mph and i normally carry 100 litres of fuel for the long haul trips

the only bad thing is if i did break down i would be heading home at about 7/8 knots

it would take ages

Well top speed is 12 for me, boat runs at 10 best for fuel and vibration etc, sound like the engine working over hard at 12.

Furthest i went off last year was 18miles and to be honest it was not really worth it.

Still new year new day...you never know.

Hi Richie

Hows the boat on fuel do you know how much per litre /mile you use as i may look at a diesel next

What is your exaxct model and engine size

cheers

Sean

2004 Arvor 18 50bhp Nanni D 301hrs on engine

I get 5mpg at 8-10knots and 3mpg at 12knots

D engines good but you cant beat an outboard for working on them (my opinion)

sounds a little excessive fuel consumption that richie, I go everywhere at about 20 kts and still get about 5mpg .. and thats a 105 hp circa 1999

Prob a better engine Norman, i only get it upto 7mpg when i run it at 2600rpm it says in the book that this is its best for fuel consumption but that only gives me 8knots.

If plenty of time i keep it at that but if time short or wishing to get far out i like yourself just forget about the cost of the fuel and "floor" it.

Going to sell the boat at the end of this season or start of next season and if work still going ok purchase an Arvor 25 or maybe something else along them lines. Work not a given thou so time will tell, this is a hobbie, keeping a roof over my head is top of my list :)

Shady didn't go far today, I needed to be away for 11.30 and the lads very kindly got me back well before.

Hit a few inshore wrecks but still nowt doing so dropped anchor on the flatty beds for an hour or so, lots of action with chickens, Andy McNabs & lots of slimeys.

Getting lighter earlier every morning :D

For some strange reason i`m starting to struggle to sleep on a friday night .............Any Idea`s.....................:D

Is this effecting any other members..........?

once you start counting the fish coming over the gunwales you will be able to sleep, so it could be a long time before you get a decent kip, sorry Bert

Not a clue but the book for the engine says the same as what i am getting so should be right, Storrar also said it was about right.

Its not out the water until next April.

do you get full revs, or will it over rev?

if it over revs, you are propped too small

under revs propped too big

Everything standard on the boat, apart from a few coolant pipes and water exchanger, dont really like to mess about with things i dont fully understand.

No idea about the rev thing, it moves in the water and goes around and around lol :)
