Sluice Open Comp Today

Fished it today with jaguar,took my son he took his,getting bites most chucks,but when trying to catch them SNAGGED UP,AAAAAAARH Very Snaggy kelp,did my head in,the all of a sudden about 6 divvy people in wet suit decided to float around for a couple of hours infront of us where we were fishing so that killed our morning and the bites,they seen us fishing and wernt even interested catching lines in the water and that,very inconsiderate of them i thought,should of dropped a 6oz weight on there heads,that would of moved them,
one lad had 3 wrasse from the other skear biggest 3lb (Nice one):thumbup:
baits used today were squid,mussle,lug,rag,i even tried limpet
most bites i had was with lug,rag and mussle cocktails

do you knw the results of the open? i fished it but blanked, got couple knocks but kept on getting snagged on the way in.

I had problems with the kelp on a couple of occasions i have fished. Once off the pier and the other off the beach. The kelp basically wraps round the line and its to heavy to pull in so you lose the rig.
It is very annoying and something i was not used to.

It was won with a 15lb bag. Not sure of the lads name tho. I didn't blank this time Although i only had 1 flatty250+ people fished and 75 weighed in. I think heaviest fish was about 6lb 8oz.

well done on weighing in mateit was not a bad turn out and thats a good heaviest bag and heaviest fish for the conditions on the day, shows you dont need a good sea running all the time somebody will be a happy bunny

Me and greg fished Lynemouth, pretty sure Mark said him and Paul fished south crab hill! Was a good day even though i blanked some good priceses given away aswell just a shame i didn't get one... next time maybe

I reckon I saw them at Crab Hill just before midday....every available rock mark between Whitley Bay and Tynemouth had at least half a dozen anglers on it...it looked desperate coz the sea was flat as a flat thing

I won the open on Sunday, managed 2 "red" cod of around 4.5 lb - 5lb each on my first two casts of the morning, followed up by a cod of about 1.5lb around low water, and then with about 20 mins from the end managed a good sized wrasse of around 4lb. Bait was fresh crab and white worm.

well done m8 you did well, i had one for 4lb 3&1/2 and my mate lost a cracker on the way in no more than 10' from the shore. for the conditions there were a canny number of fish caught.
we fished the kelp at cullercoats, tough going though with a bit of tackle loss
