Smiths Docks, nice session

Went down to Smiths again on my day off and had a really nice day. Fished from 10:30 - 16:00 and ended up with 5 fish for 6lb 12oz including a couple of fresh run Codling and a couple of monster Whiting. All the fish were taken on ragworm at distance. Pilot cutter almost got me coming in within about 30 yds of the dock getting about 4 other anglers further down. I actually came back with three more weights than I went down with !!! as I picked up gear with the two codling and the biggest Whiting. Makes a nice change that.

i was there yesterday, the only codlings i had were about 8 inches long, but had a coalie just under 2 lb and 2 nice whiting. i guess the proper codling were out of my range.
and i finished up to the eyes in clarts for my efforts, my wellies felt a few pounds heavier than when i went down !

I know what u mean my white (black now) trainers are still in the back garden since nov 11. Is the only access still down the muddy bank? Nightmare when is been as wet as it has been

Very nice mate, just out of interest what we talking about in terms of distance?

I thought some one would ask this as I usually put it in my posts for the river. To be honest I don't really know but my 525 is down to about 1/3 diameter (0.35mm line) so I would guess it is about 150 yds but I could be 30 yds either way. Saying that there have been good fish from Smiths from 30 yds as well so there is always an element of luck involved.

Got a fish every chuck on the last of the flood on lug worm, small Codling. Got a nice fish just over 2 lb. Went really quiet on the turn and almost no action on the ebb.

Definitely one of my favorite spots apart from the mud !

Just had a look through some of your past post and just as I thought, I was fishing next to you on Friday at Smiths. Good technique with your cast and clip down rigs. I could only get half your distance with an overhead thump and 2 hook flappers.

It was nice meeting you, I hope you try the Hikaru line and Teklon shock leader. I find them a good combination. Tight lines !
