as far as i know (which isnt much before ya start jimmy)this is an open forum where you can make as many comments as you like until the admin decide to lock it.
as long as people are interested to read and not breaking the rules in this post there's no reason why it should be closed.
jimmy is not the only one who thinks this lad has been done out of the prize,and if it had been me i would have sort legal representation.

Your not aloud to walk dogs up the pier or ride a bike up the pier or fish on the pier according to the sign postage on the gates. How many times have seen ya people doing all 3.

As someone who is a member of this site because I holiday and fish in the NE, I have no axe to grind or vested interest in this debate, but here's a couple of thoughts.

The club seems to have gone out of their way to make the pier available to fish during the competition, which I'm sure they did for all the right reasons, and probably now wish to heck they hadn't!

It's unfortunate that their efforts to make the pier available backfired and I for one sympathise with them, that they have been put in this position.

I'm guessing next year it will be off limits to save all this grief.

Secondly, unless I am very much mistaken, the guy who was disqualified, has shown great dignity, by not becoming embriolled in this debate. Surely, unless and until, he makes his feelings public on here, the rest of us should just let it lie!

just like to say im not a sheilds angler official of there club,infact i dont know them al;though i have had a lot to do with other clubs in the years,my opinion is this,the rules are there to be upheld not broken ,if you start letting this go and that go it just makes it worse and then folk start taking advantage of it and take the ****,if i was on the commitee id want him disqualified hes unfair advantage of getting marks before others but if your not meant to go round the gates before 8 then dont do it,and dont pretend you dont know because if you dont know you shouldnt be fishing,everyone else knows ,yes lot of money involved but he should of thought about it before he went round the gate,and also il add this i think NO ONE should be allowed to fish before the set time theres no need to and leaves it open to cheating ,im not wanting to upset anyone thats just my opinion lads all the best,

Totally agree, and if the club dont uphold their decision, they will lose the respect of the membership and will eventually fold , so the decisoin of the commitee is final
