Sonik SK4

Just to let you know that i picked up my new SK4 today
and went straight down to the beach and what a rod it is
i was using a 5oz lead with 50lb shock and 18lb main line
and was sending the lead out quite some way (OTG cast)
The rod has a mid to fast action with a bit of a flick in the
tip at the last minute it has plenty of back bone and performs
very well.
I have not fished with it but if it fishes as well as it cast's
it should be a great rod.

I had a waft of a few at the Nissan show and was impressed by the slimness and weight of them. Also had a good chat with one of the lads on the stand about the way they are being perceived by the fishing community - very nice, straightforward honest bloke.

Did like the new century tip tornado range as well though. Have they slimmed down considerably from the older versions?

you will here the same comments from most rods when they first come out my guess is rumours or the odd unlucky few

i bought the ron thompson excell when it come out i heard same rumour .mine has fished well and no complaints

There's a thread on the that subject on here already Andy, there's mention of one rod snapping and apparently the owner hit the pier while casting.

That is the only one I have heard about too Keith. Well said Coddy you are right mate, there are always rumours flying about when new gear comes out.

anndy, when you say a lot of people are having problems with these rods, how many are lots and where did you hear about it mate, just curious.

The rod that snaped was an SK3 and that was done when
he hit the pier while casting this is the only rod that has
snaped that has been sold all others have been prototype's
that had been given out to people to test.

Usually started by people who've never even looked at the rod. Not that many rods snap without some reason. There have been the odd bad design over the years but not to the extent that you'll read about.

If you look back on the threads i think everything about Sonik rods has been covered good and bad.Said this a few times i carnt fault my MK3 Soinik 14ft Rough Ground Rod
