I'm led to believe that the chairman has resigned and left the club with immediate effect after the open in october, secretary has resigned also and the competition secretary has as well, not sure if these two are still members or not.
The AGM in january will be interesting to see who want's to take on these position's.
By all accounts there is plenty of interest in voting in a new committee.A few people have expressed their intersted in taking these roles on (let's hope so )
Hopefully the club will get back to where it was a few years ago

a few years ago there were half a dozen fishing,i think keith has done a fantastic job
he leaves the club in a much better state
codonly for chairman ???

As a past member of the South Shields Angling Club your comment about getting the club back to where it was a few years ago i found very unfair the reason i left a few years back was because of the way the club was run ! i know these lads that have kept the club going and would like to say what a fantastic job they have done, the open this year was another success perhaps those who like to pick FAULT would like to have a go at running it themselves !!!! I,m not surprised these lads have resigned when they get so little support from some fellow members, remember all the hard work they have put in is completely for the club, they will be missed .

The South Shields Club is one of the oldest fishing clubs in the country. I think that from an outside point of view it has given the Northeast some credible angling competitions for a few decades now. I was thinking of joining the club myself so I could fish more (good excuse for the wife). There is still a lot of members in the club past and present with a lot of passion and enthusiasm for the angling sport. Lets hope it gets back on its feet and attracts more potential members for the future.

In your very first post on this forum (July 2012) you were new to the area and were considering joining the S/S club, yet now in your second post (December 2012) you state " as a past member"
Confused!!!

Codlip, have you decided yet.

Are you new to the area, thinking about joining the S/S club or are you an ex member who left because of the way the club was run.

Codlip ?

Codlip ?

Codlip, having waited quite sometime for your reply to my post it is pretty obvious you are not going to reply.
It would have been less obvious of who you are if you had registered as Rutland Roach.

You have made a total of 2 posts as codlip and both postings are littered with lies, however I must add the way you tell them sounds very convincing.

First post, New to Area: you said you checked out the shop in Dean Road and made certain remarks which were not good for the shop, you praised another shop as if you had stumbled upon it through someone you had spoken to whilst fishing on South Shields pier. You never checked the shop out in dean road and you already knew about A Line Baits as you were a partner in the business and had been since day one.

Second post, you claim to have been a past member of the South Shields club and left because of the way it used to be run, You were never a member.

You also continue to say “the open this year was another success….”

In actual fact the open numbers were well down on previous years,
