Fished South Shields pier last night to use up the rest of the fresh peeler crab and rag I got from reelsport, started off getting small stuff off the end mainly coley's and codling so decided to move down to the middle of the pier and soon got a bite it turned out to be the biggest short spine sea scorpion I've ever caught. I was using a one up one down rig with a size 2/0 hook on the top and a 1/0 on the bottom.

contary to what people say they are not poisonous or harmful but have a couple of sharp spines, best un hooked with a towel. have seen many at the fish quay area that would have gone 2lb also they are caught regular on tynemouth pier in club matchs ,lovley species should be treated with respect. davy.
