Spectacle Loch - NW of Newton Stewart

a small loch which is only realy fishable from a small gap in the lily pads beside the car park otherwise the rest of the banks are covered by lilys and not much fun for the kids. the 2 other forestry lochs beside it are the same only larger in size. you would be better off on loch heron or rowan at 3 lochs caravan site. £5 a day and you can fish either loch, there also hold a lot of other course fish as well as a lot of pike well into double figures.
also monrieth loch is good but a bugger to find if you have not been before. its in a dip surrounded by trees so offers plenty of shelter. £5 a day just turn up and they come around for the money during the day. fished well in june. good luck

Have you tried loch Mayberry on the Newton stewart to barhill road. Has big perch eels and some cracking pike, I've had them out over 20lb on fresh mackerel fillets. Fished it many times when the estate was run by the Beale family and Dornal loch was stuffed with trout. Haven't fished it for a few years but wouldn't think it's changed much. Not sure where you get tickets. I used to fish at the barhill end in a nice little bay. Don't let the shallow water fool you, the big pike are there. Belting loch!
