Hi All

I realy fancy giving spinning a go this year( Whitley pipe or the piers ) and would realy like some advice on what size spinner to use etc

Cheers

just buy a few diff spinners and try them out mate what you targeting?

macky will go for anything shiny so you cannot go wrong there

a prefer the good old dexter wedge but £1 spinners catch no probs

pollock they will take spinners but also jelly worms etc are also good with a lead head

cheap rubbish, if it shines then it will work. get a pack of daylights and split them in two, spinner at the end more as the weight than owt. chnage he treble to a single hook, add one at the top. dont rush to lift if nothing on when you're on the piers, jig around for a few lifts, often chase it in but don't take on the initial retrieve.

I agree with el_sid you can't go far wrong with a dexter wedge. If you are spinning for mackerel then most of the spinners on the market will work, and are also cheaper than dexter wedges.

I use nordic herring and dexter wedges of varying weights (28g-40g) and have had a lot of success with them.

The rod I use is a dirt cheap devil stix spinning rod (£10 on sale) and I won't be changing that as I don't think a more expensive rod equals more fish.

I use 6lb - 10lb line depending on the size of the spinner and if I have an extra daylite feather above it.

I use rapalas [blue] rattlers, and have been taking bass to 4lb around rocky marks.Best bet do what i do and check it out where your going to plug at low water. At least then u will minimise tackle loss, just remember where the bad snags are at high water,

I use spinners from boyes!!! there about 75p they also sell pike jerks and if you use a smaller one and change the hooks they work nice aswell i have been told!!
