I'm gonna get myself a nice spinning set up and I wondering of yous had any recommendations, something that would cope with 2-3 Mackey or a decent Pollack not too light as I've already got a light spinning rod, cheers fellas

I swear by my Greys Seaspin - it's had some right hammering over the years & didn't even flinch this morning when Sammy Seal grabbed one of my mackerel right at my feet, luckily the hook-length lasted all of about a second though! Coupled with a small Shimano reel it's all I use for (mostly) float fishing these days, but I've had full-houses of up to 5 mackerel and can lift them clear out the water with it. At 11ft a bit too long for plugging & the like, but great with a float or spinner / jelly etc.

Gary :)

They sound likes very good rod mate but looking at them there out my price range, just been on nets website there and there's a one that fits my price range, a Ron Thompson tyran 40-100g for 30 nicka

I havent been fishing long mate, so dont know enough to recomend makes and models, but have you looked at 1-3oz or 2-4oz bass rods?

Ive got an http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/ron-thompson-evo2-seabass-11-1-3oz-2sec-p270652 Sea Bass 1-3oz, cost me £9.99!

Ive only been fishing for 8 weeks but I have been fairly active (fished over 30 different marks now), and Ive ended up with 4 rods - a 9ft spinner which Ive used once, a beachcaster used a few times, my lrf rod, use it all the time and the bass rod which I use the most - got a load of decent sized single mackerel on 40g lure, got sets of 4 mackerel and sets of 4 coley's on daylights with 2oz lead, had flounders on it fishing with a 3oz sliding ledger, and I use it for float fishing with a 1oz float set up. Seems to be a good all rounder. Ive tried using 4 and 5oz leads on it as well, it can handle the weight but bends too much to get a decent cast.

I use a 20-60 gram Savage Gear Bushwacker Xlnt. It's a great all round rod and I pair it with my Smimano Stradic Ci4.

I use it for bass and for like fishing in the winter, superb combination I reckon.
