My first post for quite a while - so be gentle with me! This may have been asked before - but when using squid either as a tipper or in a cocktail - has anyone ever had any success using the head in any way?
For me it dont matter what part ya use mate. Squids squid but the head tends to stay on better. I only ever use it as a cocktail bait normally with frozen blacks or rag. Dont normally mix it with crab or yellows but thats my personal preference mate. At the end of the day every bait has its day in my opinion
areet mate a tend t use baby squid n had a pouting on head n lug n pollack on head n rag on tues on shields pier tend t just use the head on bend of bottom hook on penell as an attracter hope this helps
my mate only ever uses the head for tipping ..and he is a specimen hunter...i think they taste nice deep fried....but anyhow i think there squid head is just a good for tipping...i hook em thru the eyes.
had a few fish on squid over the years i make a bait parcel stuff them with lug ect normally cut the head off and just use the body or stuff them on a trace then freeze them and cast them out frozen , jamcod
strips work just as good as some of the other methods mentioned. I normally cut pieces around 3" long and start by putting a worm on, then a piece of squid but only put it on the hook a couple times, leave a bit hanging. then keep repeating worm & squid till you get a bait suitable size to the target species!
