Fished with the Crabstick crew on the forties (one of the few dry patches on the pier today), rob and mick had small codlings and coleys, mark managed to pull a sized cod out. I got nothing there (apart from one good knock, with a fish on, but lost it half way in).

Grant P and a few others were fishing further up, from the concrete (until it got too hairy) and they had a few out.

About 4 o'clock the lads were heading home and I didn't want to be the only person left up the pier so I 'walked' down with them (it was more like a sprint really, with a few stops to belly flop up onto the wall).

They went home (mick and rob needed to dry out) and I stayed and fished the second seat. It was fish a chuck at the seats, with a few double shots, but unfortunately they were all just small dabs and coleys.

Nowt special fish wise, but a good day out!

A few pics of the conditions:

Took one step on the peir about three seen the swells coming down the peir and decided against it ended up on the walkway with a fish a cast but all of them where under 30cm seen marks van parked in the car park

You were brave going up there in that mate. At least ya got a few fish though. If I'd have been on you could bet ya house I'd have been put on me arse.

sorry lads, personaly i wouldent of put photos on forum.not the best of adverts for grown men.would of been alot more comfortable in the river.well thats my 2p worth.

Not the best session from us plus looking back not the brightest decision but we were safe enough just didn't take notice of the rollers coming over down the pier boys all ended well this time

The sea wasn't actually that rough, there was no chop on it, just some heavy swells rolling in, and some of them were washing over, nothing there to lift someone off the pier.

We were there, we judged it to be safe enough, no point looking at some photos and making a decision on whether it was safe to be there or not, there obviously isn't any pics of the other 99% of the time when I was scratching my arse waiting for the rod tip to move.

Want I mean to say though, is nothing would of happened to give the port of tyne headaches. It was safe. There was no chance anyone was gonna get washed in. There was some heavy swells, which combined with the high tide, meant that water was washing over some parts of the pier.

The photos might look a bit dramatic, but the report and pics were meant to be entertaining. It was a pretty uneventful day really, it's not like there was waves crashing all over the shop; it was just lumps washing up some bits of the pier now and then.

I must admit, I was scared, scared that my socks might get wet! That was all though, really.

Bet you've fished in much worse than that. You're right, couple of month ago it would of been packed, and full of cod.

Agree with reg, that pier was shut for a reason lads, doesn't need broadcasting that you were fishing it, we all fish marks at times that are a bit iffy just don't broadcast it

I love to read the catch reports on here, and especially look at photos of their sessions, and I like to post mine as often as possible, usually if I've got some good pics to show. There's very little happening on NESA now, so at least this has kept a few people entertained for a bit. (some people do need to chill out though).

You wouldn't have caught any cod though mate ;)

I was on the pier thu and they shut the gates then.... No swell, no waves and a bit of fog.

if a gull has a shiete on ssp the gate gets shut.
I was on there yesterday and thought it was safe, do some people really think that the authorities use this forum for regulatory enforcement?
