Fished shields pier tonight from about 8pm till 2am with Sean.

Started at the 44 and we both were getting sized whities and dabs almost every cast. I also got a rockling down the the side of the pier on the harbour side.

Went down to the end at high tide at midnight - trying for dogfish, I got a small tommie about 1lb, and more whiting. We both got snagged loads so went back to the 44 after and hour, and got more whiting! And Sean got a hagfish which covered his rig and the whitie that was on the other hook with slime, horrible things, so we called it a night after that.

So a codling, a rockling, a hagfish and at least 30 whiting and 20 dab between us.

Like a skinned eel emitting slime known as pink worm's curl up in a knot on your bait

That was a crazy session last night as I must have got around 30 fish in The 2 1/2 hours or so I fished there. The size of the whiteys were mad for this time of year. If only I was fishing a match. So who won then? Haha

Loads of hag fish kicking around on the seaward side the other night. Horrible things.

It was crazy busy, I was sick of getting whities though! Didn't get any pics of the hagfish. It was tied into a load of knots around the rig and the whitey, it looked like it was the whitie's guts hanging out, but seen all the slime and realised what it was.

Nice session Andy, those hagfish are horrid things, seen a vid after I caught one and googled what it was. They create so much slime that they kill there prey that eat them, then they eat there way out, gross.
