Ssp bank holiday Monday

With some bait left over from the weekend and some frozen mackerel and razors I headed for the pier for 10AM. I set up at about the 42 mark and had a decent flounder first cast then it went quiet for a while. There was some drama after that when a bloke's jet ski packed up about 100 yards in front of me, he then fell off, stayed in the water for a while and then started to swim back towards the pier abandoning his jet ski for some reason. With him heading towards the pier and the life boat coming to get him I had to reel my lines in, felt some weight one one and it turned out to be a good plaice at 39cm.



They picked him up no bother and went to collect his jet ski which was heading towards Trow rocks by then.I stayed until about 5pm, two more flounders, a small codling and a decent dab ended a canny day's fishing. The weather was glorious with no wind, just how a May bank holiday should be.

Nice one mate, sounds like a nice day to be fishin unlike when I was there on saturday when the wind was a mare

Factor 50 mate. My lugs are ok for a change. Didn't help with the other stuff being 4 years out of date, no wonder it didn't work

Lovely fish that mate. I blanked off roker pier today. A few lads were saying it was cos the seal was knocking about. Only seen 3 fish caught all day. Crap start for my new rod and reel I bought this morning.

There were a few out, not as many as I expected, plenty of walkers. It was the amount of boat traffic that was amazing, boats, jet skis, kayaks the lot. It looked like they'd all been locked up somewhere and all let out at once!

You were still up the end when I left mate. The lad from Essex fishing next to me had a plaice on his last cast, he was over the moon as that was what he was wanting. All of the dabs must have been near the end today I only had one.

Gutted I didn't get a plaice myself but I think I was missing the ragworm

Nice fish Mark! I have barely been out over the last few months due to work and a knee injury.... winter season barely got going before it was over. Nice to see the spottys turning up... im hoping to get out next week.... wind dependant!

A pair of lads had a couple of launce spinning into the wheel from the bottom of the steps at the 44 area.

Well done on the Plaice. I have no sympathy for jet skis i think they are a pain in the arse.
