St Abbs Again

Alright Lads,

I went out again on Monday, i was meant to be seeing the time share but amazingly she wanted to go to St Abbs and sun bathe!! My luck was in i thought!:D

After battling with bank holiday traffic we got to St Abbs after 2 hours, the wind was howling. I coaxed her to the mark, which usually takes me 20 mins, took her an hour but fair game to her as there's some pretty scary drops!!

I thought my luck had started to ebb.:(

I started to fish and had nothing for an hour, she got bored and said she "wanted to see a fish" and mentioned something about going home. I'd tried all of the tools in my lure fishing arsenal (very limited) but not had a knock.

My luck was definitely running out!

Then after saying "it was my last cast" before we went home, but probably a load more- you know how it is;), i got what i think is my PB Pollack. My previous PB was 5Lb which i'd weighed at home but this was bigger and it was on lighter gear:). It had my rod bent double, to the point where i could see light between my reel and rod, it was taking line too:o. It fought for 10 minutes as i tried to stop it holing up somewhere. It gave up and I managed to pull it in without any tackle breaking. Phew.:D My luck hadn't completely ran out.

I think it weighed around 6lb is my new Pb Pollock. (gonna have to get some lightweight scales)

The fish had taken the same grey sand eel as the fish the day before but this time it hit it on the drop which took me by surprise.

4 hours in the car, 2 hours walking and climbing, 1 1/2 hours fishing and one fish to show for it. I love going fishing:D:D

Sorry for another long report but non of my mates fish and she can't be arsed to listen.

Cheers and tight lines

Nice fish and nice report, get yourself a lure Challenge card printed out for next, its just for fun but apart from the top spot the table is wide open.

Cant wait to get into the Pollock, I'm off to the west coast in 16 days (and counting) :)

Well Nat you're certainly doing something right. There's plenty of us fished for years without hitting Pollock like those. Main thing, fish where the fish are. Cracking fish matey.

Sounds like good fun, i'll get me card printed out at work tomorrow. But it mans i'll have to try and catch something other than Polloack;)

The west coast (Galloway) is definitely on my tick list- it looks great from what i can find on the net!

Not sure how far north your going on the west coast? i had a week, climbing with the Time Share, on Skye last month but i did manage to sneak an afternoon wetting a line off Neist point. I HIGHLY recommend it! Got loads of good info from here Shore Fishing on Skye and Lochalsh - Home.

Looking forward to trying to get my name on that challenge table.

Cheers

We are headed to The Mull of Galloway mate, our annual trip. Leaving early doors Friday the 24th heading back Sunday lunch time ish. Had loads of good Pollock over there and wrasse up to 6lb last year. If your at a loose end that weekend get yourself across, personally ive never fished anywhere like it. You hit the Golden Hour, as we like to call it, and the fishing goes off the scale, literally a fish a chuck. Cant flipping wait.
