Does anyone know where i can buy stainless steel wire, the same as they use to make leads tails?
I think it is 16 or 18 guage, but I\'m probaly wrong.
Cheers!

Maybe a couple of feet? I\'m plating around with tail lengths and stuff.
Do tackle shops sell it unformed? I mean just a straight length of it, no eyes etc.?
Cheers

Sorry to mess you all about but i am talking about the wire used in the EYE of the lead (thanks allan), not the actual \'grippers\' or tails as I now know them to be known. Does anyone know where i can get this stuff? :)

hello student, frasers sell them but only in aprox 4-5 inch length you can leave both eyes on to make use of the full length of the wire.

Cheers John but i want the lengths of wire to be longer than normal and without the eye. If i could find somewhere to get lengths, that would be great.

Just stripped down a old mountain bike wheel, got 36 12\" lengths of wire from the spokes, slightly stiffer than armoured cable but they fit fine, the wheel rim will make a canny drop net as well ;)

Geoff got a new roll of 18 gauge Stainless steel think theres 5 M but thats the Gauge for the breakaway wires the tails are thicker if you want it giz your addy by pm and Ill post it to you, as alans states bike wheel spokes are about the gauge your looking for, the bike shops will gladly give you any amount from there repairs.

I can get 5m coils of 18g wire. As John says though this is the gauge that\'s used for the breakaway wires, the tails are usually thicker.

PM me if it is of any use to you.
