You may of heard, read or seen it on the web that you can park at Steely for a couple of quid. I was even told this and put it in my column. I have now been reliably informed that the owners rather than wanting and helping anglers, do not want them on their property at all. So this was duff information. :casstet: :exclam:

Your not supposed to fish steetley but a lot of people do, i put it on here because i didnt expect steetley management to come on here and read it but the security were ok bout it and still are,..........its not supposed to be common knowledge!

If you dont want it to be common knowledge dont put it in writing anywhere. Letters have gone out telling anglers they are not welcome, seems as if there will be a clamp down on anglers now.

In defence of Marky, it was obvious (certainly to me) that the car parking issue was a nod and a wink (private) arrangement with the security guards.

I don\'t think that he said that the management wanted to help anglers or that they wanted them on their property. Possibly the management response was as a result of you drawing attention to it in your column.

Could possibly have been, however if it was a nod and a wink you dont go round telling everybody or sooner or later the word will get where it shouldnt go. Mind from what i have heard that bus loads of anglers going and up to eighty cars parked i think the management would have found out sooner or later.

I only put it on here because a lad had replied to a catch report i had put on and said his car had been broken into, i was merely trying to help him.

I will continue to fish steetly because the quality of fish ( my uncle had one of 8lb+ on tuesday night) is far superior than the other places you can fish round here.

Don\'t worry Mark, you where not the only source of the information. Pity the owners dont make it official thewn they could use the income to make the area safter, maybe you should pass that on to them. About time some of these corporation instead of trying to stop anglers carrying out a peaceful passtime they started to help anglers.

The management position, whilst unsympathetic to us anglers, is somewhat understandable - I am sure the company could be held legally liable for any damage to property or injury to a person on their land.

Regarding liability. Anglers who wish to fish matches from Tynemouth pier have personal insurance out to cover such eventualities, otherwise they are not allowed on. Answer if you wish to fish their \"legally\" get insurance, fish illegally and you do so at your own risk.

Sorry Alan, but that is wrong. As I said in an earlier post the landowner can be held liable for injury to anyone on their property.

unfortunately alan, patrick is right. when we had access to the south pier at sunderland years ago we paid for a pier pass and signed a statement declaring you fished at your own risk and that the port authority could not be held responsible for any injury or loss of property whilst on their land.
however although this statement was signed it wasn\'t worth the paper it was written on, if you had an accident you were still legally able to sue them. i believe this was the main reason behind us loosing the south pier although other \"excuses\" were used.
these \"no win no fee\" companies have a lot to answer for, companies are sh*t scared of them!
