Well a few hours booked in on leave today so a silly start time of 5.30am was agreed and i met Ian down the marina for a few hours wrecking.

We got a quick set away and past the piers before 6am, straight out to a 4 mile wreck with a fantastic flat sea and no wind at all in front of us. First mission catch some mackerel and it was looking like mission impossible for over 30mins with only one mackerel landed and about 100 coalie lol but we managed 20 or so for bait and the BBQ.

Decided not to fish close in today and passed all the inshore wrecks with the fear they will have been hammered with the spell of flat weather (since the weekend)

We plugged away taken cod 1-2 a drift and more coalie further out, soon joined by the JFK

By this time the sun was up and with the tide ripping past at around 1.4k i decided to go for a swim in the sea :)

I am glad it was cold and things vanished as i had a bad feeling a mackerel may think food :)

When the slack tide came we started hitting the ling and quickly got sick of them after a few kept for the pot, the rain was on and off and towards the end of the day the wind got up and set the sea away to a slight but what a cracking morning, it was t-shirt and shorts weather and flat as could be sea.

So the catch well we ended up with 30+ cod over 3lb, 8 ling and 1 pollack alogn with 100s of coalie, pouting, mackerel, whiting and more smaller codling put back

My catch 12 cod from 3-7lb, 5 ling around 5lb and 1 pollack about 4lb

No big fish but good fun on light gear and nice few hours at sea before work.

Nice catch bud, that all it takes a few hours too catch some prime fish. Luckily there was no sharks about, would have a scene from jaws oot there, well with dogfish anyways!!:D

Richy , you're mad :D , I didn't get out today , I had to give someone a lift at 9am and by the time I got to the boat after that it was low water , sat waiting for the water to cover the cill and the heavens opened , the sky was black , thunder and lightening crashing around and the wind rattling the yacht masts :o , thought I might leave it for another day :D
Looks like you had a cacking day , you don't need to catch doubles to have fun fishing eh? (but it helps )
Nice one Richy :)

Good result Rich, plenty fish still out there. Looks like Graham b's mate Mike lost his goggles from Amble:D Good job there weren't too many mackerel about, cos that's where there is the odd porbegle:o:o

I know, after i wenfor a swim it a conversation popped up from Ian along the lines of "did you read the report of a white tip shark having a go at the salmon netters boats this week" info i could of done with BEFORE i went swimming around the boat

Yer you dont need doubles to hve fun but a day with out a double just dont seem right our days :)
