Stuck spigot

click on search foram beaky {stuck spigot}.loads of different ways to part rod.its at top of page, were you log in.good luck.ps,plenty of us have had the same problem 1 time or another lol.

Cut a piece of old bike inner tube and open it up, wrap a piece either side of joint then twist and pull it, It lets you get a good grip. It is worthwhile carrying a couple of pieces in case you have this problem.

Once you get it apart clean both male and female spigots thoroughly then apply a layer of grease and insert whilst turning, do this a couple of times and keep cleaning off and regreasing. I do this once or twice a year and spigots are perfect. Whatever you do don't take sandpaper to it.

Sometimes the only way to get a rod apart is hot water and tapping the rod apart from the inside, insert a piece of dowel pipe, rod stand leg etc and gently tap it apart.

.NEVER,NEVER,heard that 1 before.BUT if it works,good advice.?:):)

Deffo works, done 2 rods like this now. The last one, my mates kompressor, was stuck for about a year. Got it apart with a bag of frozen onions and a good pull.

.AS ive said, pleased yous sorted the problem out.

I've found wrapping a bag of frozen peas around the stuck joint for 5 mins works.

If it's the male part of the spigot yes,but if your talkin about wrapping the full spigot with peas that's aload of tosh.I've always found hair dryer quick heat on female part of the spigot, but as soon as heat transfers into the male part forget it as they both will expand.

Once made the drive all the way from Pagham in Sussex back to Portsmouth with my TT Sport poking out of the passenger window like a mediaeval knight on the jousting court :o Took me a few days to get apart, I found marigolds (rubber gloves) were spot on for getting a good grip. A bit at a time, twisting and pulling got it apart eventually.

totally agree with Chukka's advice above. I treat my spigots a couple of times a year with a squirt of PTFE spray, more often if they seem to be getting a bit dry and stiff and I've not had a problem for years now

Same as Chukka, never use anything abrasive on them and all I use is a smidging of vaseline 👍🏿👍🏿
