Had the day off work today, so decided to go fishin'.
Dropped me wife off at work (hahaha), then back home to get my gear ready.
Got down to Marsden Bay just before 11:00.....only stayed about an hour.....sea was BIG and difficult to hold bottom....nothing caught.

Went onto Shields pier - Rail End (oh no!...not again....lol).
Not a bite.
Was busy packing up to head back to Marsden (this time possibly fishing from the bottom of the steps) for H/W .....when I got my 1st bite of the day.....ended up being a 2lb 6oz codling ......decided NOT to go back to Marsden....lol
That was the only bite I had all day........but it wasn't the only thing I caught !!!

Decided to gut the fish there so as to save the bother when I got back home. Took the fish out of the fishbag and whilst I was busy cleaning the fish....the bag got blown over the pier wall and into the sea.
Damn.....lost me bag .....or so I thought.

Continued cleaning the fish and wrapped it in a plastic bag.....meanwhile, me bonny blue fishbag was still on the surface but was now about 30 yds off the pier.
Thought I'd try some precision casting........managed to hook it at the 3rd attempt The thing was full of water and felt like it weighed half a ton. Thanks to the big sea, the waves helped to lift it half way up the wall......one recovered fishbag

Decided to call it a day shortly after that.......just had me fish for tea

Just as a bit of a sea state / weather report:
The sea was BIG......The harbour was BIGGER.
Watched one of the huge "HUAL" container ships try to enter the harbour.....must've had about 4 or 5 attempts....eventually managed it, but it was being tossed around all over the place.
The RED channel marker bouy in the harbour had broken free of its mooring and was just about marooned close to the pier wall.
The Pilot boat came out to recover it.

Anybody fishing tonight.....BE CAREFUL.....especially after the news of what happened elsewhere.

Tony, was that the ship that came in about 1.30pm? If so, I seen it struggling.

Aye Davy, that'll have been the one.
I thought it had given up and was heading for home at one stage.....lol

Yes Dave, that's the one. Must've taken SOME battering to have broken free.......never seen that happen before.

A tug came out to act as the Port marker when the ship (mentioned above) finally came in.

I was running about all day Tony so never got the chance to pop through for a couple of hours. Never got me car back till 3:30 yesterday afternoon Had to drive about in that Chicken coupe (sorry lol) all bloody weekend. Can't even start to compare a1.9 Megane Scenic with a 1.2 Cleo, horrible little thing lol.
