A foggy rolly day to fish with huge flood coming down the river and a big tide. I fished this one solo for the first time, but always in touch with the other small boats out, and headed south to try and find cleaner water. Everthing around the Coquet was chocolate brown, so it was near Bondicarr before it was any where near fishable, amazingly the mackerel were still about in it. Just picked away at the peaks for cod and had a try for pollack. It was hard going for everyone I think but I managed 9 pollack, 3 cod and a coalfish to keep, even had atry for a plaice but only managed a couple of dabs.Should have kept them cos the winning flat was only 7oz, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the end I weighed in my biggest fish a cod 5lb 10oz and a coalfish 2lb 4oz which got the specimen prize and the cod was 10th in the inshore section.I'm not complaining at that result. A great presentation at the Schooner, and well organised by Norma and her team.
Couple of photo's below of the catch taken with phone, sorry no people or action shots with fishing solo.

You did well on a tough day Col, never thought the water would get so coloured up the Northumberland coast, but there you go, only ever seen it clear.:)

The weather just totally scuppered us Colin, all the plans were up to Amble on Friday and a bellyful of beer on Saturday and some crack then back to the Tyne on Sunday. We would have came up for the week if I wasn't sitting exams.

We ended up with a casualty, snotty horrible sea, super fast drift, zero visibility and almost a collision! A bloody nightmare and I ended up studying all night on Saturday as opposed to drinking lots of beer!. I will find if it has paid off next week:o

Then fishing three times a week minimum.......weather permitting:rolleyes:

Graham.
