Sunday 7th S/Shields Turbot.

Got down at 4am for a spot of bait fishing still one or two codling getting caught so thought a would try and pull couple out before the pier got busy. First cast codling 1lb small so went back but not bad start.

Couple cast pulled in small dabs then got a rattle then a couple good pulls waited nothing thought must be on, lifted the rod and reeling in could feel the weight and thought champion better codling. When it broke the surface I said it looks like a good plaice, it was still trying to dive Down. Got it to the side Mickey started to lift it on the way up he said it's a Turbot it came over the wall a was well chuffed a 2lb 6oz Turbot.

That's a corker, makes you wonder what would come off the big beach if you put a few hours in.
