Itching to get out we were unsure how things were going to pan out with the huge tides and decided that a trip either side of slack water was to be the best decision to make. So an afternoon trip it was. We got down to the marina for 4pm and met up with mike and decided that we'd head straight out to the wrecks. Stopped on our 1st wreck and picked up some mackerels for bait , and that's all we picked up 3 drifts later with 3 different methods of fishing and not a bite so we headed out to 7 and a bit miles. Fish finder was looking promising with feed on the top to 20m Pollocks above the wreck and hopefully fish hiding inside of it. From the 1st drop this wreck produced some nice size cod Pollocks and ling.
Mike and Norbert were catching that is. My rod couldn't connect with anything shads and baited mackerel traces were all left hanging on the wreck , until my rod went over and up popped my 1st fish of the day minus my lead. A nice ling just shy of 5lb.
Couple of drifts later Norbert gets hit , loses it and gets hit again , again it comes off the 3rd time it hit he nailed it fish had his rod bent right over and was stripping line from his reel. Looked like a hell of a fight. 5 minutes later the fish appeared and what a sight it was. All 16.5lbs of it. What a beauty of a fish. And a new personal best for him. Well done mate.
We stayed another hour before the wind was starting to freshen and landed a few more cod and ling to nigh on 7lb. Another fantastic few hours out. With some great company.
Few photos for yous.
