the cod are scarce

so we are about half way through the season and for me it's not been that good, and from the reports i,ve read on this forum nobody else is doing that much better ,from 22 sesions i've managed 3 codling up to 3 lbs, not that good by anyones standards, i'm useing the same bait i use every year, fishing the same marks and getting next to nothing, even the whiting seem not to be there in decent nunbers, does any body else think the same .

it seems to me as if the seaon is coming to a premature end, normally the time of year for the odd big cod is two to three weeks away. good job there are still whiting around, odd thing is the Tyne is apprently full of tiny codlings, the mind boggles.

fished blyth pier last night not even a bite using nice big bait peeler lug and razor there was a lad on the end had one about 5lb thats all i heard caught there me m8 fished north crab hill and had one about 4.5lb thought he was a bt nuts for fishing that mark for the first time what with a big sea and also bieng dark but it paid off with his fish as for the cod seem to think that they are away on holiday good luck

seems the cod have returned, bags reported to 30lb off South Shields pier and good bags off Blyth pier today, and loads of fish from Square Holes at Lynemouth last night, and this is before I start getting reports from my legion of spies.
